How do you read an EGT gauge?

How do you read an EGT gauge?

The part I'm confused on is that the main n20 writeups (Sx7r and Mardisgras) refer to a normal reading of 800 degrees celsius. My EGT (Pyrometer) reads in degrees farenheit. At idle, I'm at 800 but on the higway at speeds varying between 60-85, I'm between 10-12.

What reading is normal, what's lean/rich?

Here's a pic of mine:

Just as Autometer recommends, about 6 inches down off the front bank.

That is about right. I have mine actually mounted in the front bank header. I read about 1350 at WOT off the bottle. So since you are a little farther down then I am, your readings are fine. Now, when you spray, base your tunings on your current readings to determine if you are running lean or rich.....
