Nissan Announces 09 Maxima pricing.....
I have a friend who works at nissan and he said that is was going for 39k. He said that was the top of the line model with everything included. After taxes and everything, the car will go up to about 42k. I will just wait to see what the sports and mid level packages cost. Most nissan dealers should have atleast one max already, which is probably on the show room floor with an outrageous price.
Nissan just updated their "Build Your Nissan" website to include the 2009 Maxima.

The cost of the one I priced out was:
2009 Maxima 3.5SV Premium Package (includes HID's, bluetooth phone, heated front, AC in the back, etc. etc.) - $35,440
-- White on Black
-- Rear Spoiler - $370
-- Premium + Technology Package (Navigation and Music HDD) - $1,850
-- Carpeted Floor and Trunk Mats - $180
-- Trunk Sub-Floor Organizer and First Aid Kit - $150
Price of MSRP: $38,650
The f'in Maxima costs as much as the 08 G35x. I don't think I'm getting on now, I rather have the Infiniti G35x since it has 306hp.
This is GAY. I might even consider an 08 TL-S when the 09 comes out and dealers try to get rid of stock.

I fell ya Ilayk, I said the same exact words. This car is severely over price when you add some stuff. Almost 40k, I might as well look at the g37 or a year old lexus for this price. And both of those cars have over 300 hp
a loaded G37 NEW is $43k
$5k is quite a difference. once they're out for a while, you can get the Maxima price to lower, not so much the G37.
I priced the sports model at 37,700. Im amazed at how restrictive they are about what can go with what. I'm going to wait till towards the end of the year like lightonthehill said. By then hopefully I can get it for around 32,000 or 33,000. I cant wait to go test drive one
Has anyone on the site actually bought one yet?! I'd like to know the real story behind the actual MSRP...are they coming off it any? All they are telling me at the stealerships is 'better hurry and get one while they last!' I know they are expecting them to be a real hit but they have jumped from mid to upper twentys to mid to upper thirtys... I got my 5.5 SE brand new back in '02 for $25K w/ sunroof and 6spd. I know that was 6 yrs. ago but still... I don't know many people, with the economy and gas the way it is now, that are willing to go out and drop $35g's on a new Max. I would if I could...
you're comparing the 02 you bought in 02 which was made in 01 and 03 were almost available to
an 09 sold in 08 just built with a lot of upgrades for the newest gen with plenty of new 08s left on the lots.
why would dealers drop the price the first day available? how would they sell the 08s? you talk about hurting resale value, that would kill it.
just wait until the diesel comes out. they you can see less than MSRP.

I made an offer...
I made an offer, but the dealer rejected - won't go below MSRP. Apparently they haven't heard we're in a recession, the stock market down 12% for the year and getting worse every day, and a gallon of premium is $4.50. I don't see a 2009 Maxima in my future.
MajesticMax02 - Sadly, prices of most things are going up. I try to see the big picture. Prices of cars don't often rise dramatically except in 'new generation' model years, so to be meaningful, we have to look at things over time. For comparison purposes, we will use the 2009 Maxima with Premium Package, which is a very well equipped vehicle (more goodies than most any Maxima of the past).
For starters, my '85 Maximas (I had two of them) had an MSRP between $12K and $13K each. My '04 SL had an MSRP between $32K and $33K. That means, on average, the MSRP of the Maxima increased around $1K per model year over that two decades.
If we keep things in the more recent past, my loaded '00 SE had an MSRP of between $28K and $29K. My similarly equipped '04 SL had an MSRP between $32K and $33K. That was an increase of $4K in 4 model years. Yet again, an average increase of $1K per model year.
The '09 with Premium package has many goodies that were not on my '00 or '04, and has an MSRP between $35K and $36K. That is an increase of only $3K in the last 5 model years (between the 2004 and the 2009). That is an average of only $600 per model year.
An even more dramatic comparison is that the MSRP rose around 160% between the 1985 and 2004 model years, which was an average of 8% per model year. But the MSRP rose just 9% between the 2004 and 2009 model years, which is an average of LESS THAN 2% PER MODEL YEAR. That is extremely reasonable.
The price complaints I am seeing on the ORG indicate there are several posters here who may have had 6th gen SEs without the $3K Driver Preferred Package, or drivers with older gen Maximas who are not aware the MSRP of a well-equipped Maxima has been between $32K and $34K for the last five years. As a consequence, they may not realize that the '09 prices are very reasonable.
An 2009 'S' has an MSRP of $30K. A '09 SV (leather and other nice goodies) is only a few thousand more. Adding either the Sports or Premium package really loads this 2009 Maxima up very nicely, and is still only $35K to $36K. The MSRP for a similarly equipped G35 is around $39K to $40K, and for a similarly equipped G37 is around $42K.
Nissan offers us a choice between a new stylish and better Maxima (the base 'S') for around $30K, a very nice Maxima with leather, etc (SV) for around $32K to $33K, a really nice loaded Maxima (SV with premium Package) for between $35K and $36K, or for those who want 'the moon', a Maxima equipped beyond any Maxima of the past, but which will cost commensurately with the added goodies.
I personally applaud Nissan for keeping their 2009 Maxima price increases reasonable.
Edit - And I would hope those here expecting a below MSRP price the first few months of a totally redesigned vehicle are young and inexperienced in the ways of auto dealerships. Get back to me in September, and maybe we can work something out.

MajesticMax02 - If I was one who just did not like the idea of a CVT, I would absolutely wait until next spring/summer and get the diesel, which will probably have either a six or seven speed auto tranny.
But, knowing from my classes in physics that a tranny that does not have to shift, when perfected, will outperform a tranny that does (both in accelleration and fuel economy), and considering that I spend much of my time just sitting and waiting for the car in front of me to inch forward, I see no reason to avoid a CVT, even though it has not quite yet reached perfection.
I plan to buy as soon as I can get my favorite saleswoman to sit down and deal up from invoice with me. Maybe by Thanksgiving. Definitely by the cold days of February, when no customers are on the lots.
I am so glad to see most folks here seeing this new Maxima in person for the first time are having the same reaction I had when I studied it in person back in April: photos absolutely do not do this car justice.

I went to the dealer the day the first three '07s rolled off the truck. MSRP... take it or leave it. I left it. Over the next week they called me several times, each time lowering the price a little more. Nine days later it was June 30th and they were desperate for two more sales to make their quotas. Called me after regular closing time and offered me the car for $300 under invoice. A little patience can pay off.

I sat in the 09' Maxima at Maxus, I must say the interior is a lot nicer than my cousins 2007 G35 sedan. I must say I will consider one when I purchase my next car, but with that price its Acura TL, Lexus IS350, and BMW 3 series territory.
Dealer invoice
Some of you have mentioned previously that you get the dealer invoice and then contact dealers by internet and make an offer on a new vehicle. Where do I go on the net to find dealer invoice? Thanks for any help any of you can give me!

However, I actually do think that you should have some luck talking off some of the price, the two at my dealer have been sitting around for five days now without selling (a long time for an entirely new car).
I have much of my portfolio tied in some way to the stock market, and the DOW has dropped from the 14Ks to the 11Ks in just a few months. I see homes for sale that have had their price reduced up to 30%, with still no takers. The administration says only that 'these are tough times.' Indeed.
Don't be misled by claims to the contrary; our economy is in deep trouble. Unless we have something change drastically in the near future (such as a reduction in the price of oil, which is not likely), I can see getting an '09 at invoice much sooner than would be the case in normal times.
With a new and exciting redesign, I would normally expect to see a gradual fall to invoice over a period of six to eight months. Under current economic conditions, I would not be surprised if some buyers were able to wrangle invoice on this totally new '09 within four or five months.
Under these conditions, it may be wise to stay on the sidelines a few months as the dealers anguish with an ever-increasing selection of unsold vehicles.

They were desperate and knew that I would never consider an '06 no matter how attractive the price differential, so they caved. Same could definitely happen again.
Unfortunately, Nissan was not desperate yet, so I didn't see any of the factory incentives that came along not too much later. I don't expect we'll see them on the '09 for a while unless gas prices go further in the tank.

No... not completely redesigned, but they were not in any hurry to sell the '07s, either. I overheard the dealership owner tell the GM that he needed to hide the '07s for a while because they "would never sell any '06s once people saw these".

Got this pricing into my database a week or so ago.

Do any of you know if all the dealers pay the same invoice price or would larger dealerships get a better price? I live between 2 large cities each about 100 miles away and then there are 3 local dealers. If it is worth driving to get one I will.... Thanks for any help.
They all pay the same invoice price.
BUT these days many deales rely heavily on sales- and CSI-based bonuses. The former is usually based on a quota. So a small dealer than beats his quota could still get a larger bonus than a large one that does not. And scores on satisfaction surveys could matter most of all.

mkarsh - Thanks for the info about invoicing. As long as I know they all pay the same invoice price I am set... Now I just need to decide if I want to live with the dual roof because I really want the premium package! Very interesting about the scores on satisfaction meaning so much.
