Car Overheating
Car Overheating
I know there are tons of threads on this, but i can not find an answer to my problem in any of them.
I just recently replaced the radiator fans because they were shot. I thought this was the cause of my overheating issues, but my car is still overheating. The top hose is always very hot and the bottom radiator hose is cold.
Anyone have any experience with this. Thanks in advance.

Replace your thermostat. It is not opening to allow flow. Also, verify that your fans are indeed turning on. Don't understand how the car overheats unless the collant level is low. Bought mine with a closed thermostat but didn't overheat. I only noticed because I was not getting strong heat.

Can the Thermostat give you the right temperatures and still malfunction by not opening?
+1 for this. Also, where are you checking coolant level? I had an issue with a cracked coolant overflow nipple - when coolant got hot it "overflowed" out the crack. The coolant level in the tank always looked OK, but the radiator kept loosing coolant. Eventually, car started to overheat and when I checked it out the radiator was nearly dry! New radiator and everything was fine.
Check and see if the space between the radiator and the a/c condenser coil is clear and not full of junk.
Check coolant level by removing radiator cap when the engine is cold. The coolant should be completely filling the radiator - no air. If the radiator is full, I would suspect that the thermostat is not opening up like it should.

I took out the thermostat today and I put in 180 degree water and it did not open up. It seems it was letting a little bit of water go through, but it definitely did not open up. I'll go buy another one and see how it goes.
