You can zoom the weather map just not with the ****, which I agree is kinda dumb.

 

Thanks, yeah I meant with the wheel. The zoom icon on the map is on the far side of the screen so a bit tough to reach. I wonder if voice zoom commands work in the weather map? I will have to try.

 

I wish I could see how much time is remaining on a CD track.

 

Now that I think of it, I'd like to see music sorted by artist folders with album subfolders. Having to scroll through all the albums is frustrating.

 

A mute button for the sound system in between the up and down volume buttons.

 

I agree. Via an iPhone Apple/CarPlay I only see the most recently added albums. I still have to use the phone to narrow it down. Plus Siri is NO fan of my music, she's basically like WTF did you say?

I think Nissan should shop at the dollar store for the Maxima's key fob. That would be an improvement. The passenger seat should raise.

 

Have the main display show album art when streaming via BT, down load Gracenote info on CDs and other music and have a handle above the drivers window like there is over the passenger window.

1) I hate the FWD. RWD or AWD should be an option.

2) Eco mode would be nice.

3) Bump in HP to like 350-370 to compete with cars at around the same price range such as the charger r/t that has 360HP

4) Power folding mirrors FFS. Thats the least you should get in a 2016, 35-40K car. My base model (with literally no options) 2016 Kia Sorento has that.

5) LED fog lights on higher trims.... why have high output headlights and then cheap out of fog lights

With all that said, still love the car <3

 

1. More cargo space (back seat or trunk.)
2. Show album cover in Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth.
3. Brighter color and more options on accent lighting. Perhaps add to cup holders too?
4. If listening to mp3's, pause (don't mute and keep playing) when a phone call comes in.
5. Add option for moonroof on SR.
6. Most importantly...AWD.

I think having a "normal mode" for steering is gimmicky and has no place in this car. There is no reason to dumb down the steering in this car. It should always be heavy and accurate.

Pass. Seat height adjustability.

I know some people might laugh at the idea of an eco mode, but I think it would help in stop/go traffic.

And yes to the power folding mirrors, although it's obvious Nissan are really penny pinching with the Maxima.

 

I would add an extra parking sensor at the front that "looks" in the middle of the front of the car. I parked in a spot yesterday that had the base of a lamp post in the middle of the spot. The parking sensors didn't warn me even though I was 6" from the post base.

 

The rear has no middle sensor either and could use one there as well.

 

Assuming no upgraded power train option or all wheel drive is coming any time soon, here are a few obvious little improvements that would make the Maxima more competitive with luxury cars:

Android Auto
Four-way power lumbar support (at least on the upper trims)
Passenger seat height adjustment and lumbar support
Heated rear seats
LED low, high, & fog lights
Auto folding mirrors

 

Sadly they should all be in already.

 

My requests would be more mundane - heads up display (option on SR), higher-resolution navigation and external cameras, LED high-beams, side shades on Platinum, and - for the love of God - shift paddles across the range.

I would prefer that Nissan used an 8-speed auto, but that's unrealistic. On a lease, the CVT is fine.

The RWD, AWD, and 400 HP comments are asinine. This car is based on a donor platform - it's a low-volume niche vehicle. If you want those things, go to Infiniti or an American manufacturer.

 

the side shade is definitely a good option

 

A higher resolution backup camera would be nice especially one that can be used in the dark.

 

DSG Transmission

 

I don't know that I would want a DsG. A lot of my driving can be stop/go and I've heard a DSG isn't great for that. A solid, smooth 8 speed perhaps?

 

My last 2 cars were VW's GTI, both had the DGS transmission. Yes they are not as smooth at parking lot speed but they make up for that with their quick up and down shifts, launch control and amazing throttle response. The CVT while smoother has a fake feel about it. The shifts are fake and feel it. Using the paddle shifter only make it worse as your rpm is all over the place. I guess what im trying to say is i miss the thrill of driving a DSG.

Good points. I've only test driven a couple of vehicles with a DSG so I don't have enough experience with them to really understand.

 

I had a 2010 VW CC with DSG and 2.0 turbo. I traded it for the 2016 Max. DSG is a great tranny once your moving. In stop and go traffic, a large part of my commute, it was not great. Combined with minimal turbo lag from the 2.0, there was a lot of jerking from a dead stop. Plus I ended up putting $3K in the tranny for a new mechatronic unit (tranny main computer) which failed out of warranty (a common problem). I owned a 2000 Max which was a great car. Wasn't sure what to expect with the CVT but was really surprised how much I love it in the new Max. For me and the way I drive CVT is much better than the DSG.

 

Well, let me see..

1) Bring back the active engine braking when going downhill.

2) Give us a way turn off the adaptive part of the cruise control.

 

Repeat of others but...
1) Yes! that weird blind spot. It is really hard to see on level ground but more so on hills.
2) AWD to help with the torque steer. IS THERE ANY MODS THAT CAN HELP WITH THIS?
3) Passenger seat adjustments. (Although most days I'm solo). Maybe some people would like wider seats, they are fine for me.
4) Something to make the wheels more scratch resistant. 2 scratched in the first month. Needs a lip or something.

For those with the pano roof, they should black out the c pillar to match. I did mine on my own.

But here's one that doesn't seem to be mentioned... I don't like that the gas door isn't secured in any way. Is that a model S thing? You just walk up and push the gas door and it pops right open.

 

Your gas door will lock when you lock the car.

Nice sound system, but sure with my music selections would pick up all the Album Jacket art from my blue tooth or thumb drive audio files. Heck, my wifes 2014 Malibu does that! The big ol' Max does not.

I agree with you 100% but the knuckle heads from Nissan do not listen to their customers. If this car was rear wheel drive, they would sell thousands and thousands more.

Just like they do not listen to the upcoming leaf with its sub par 200 mile range. Yes, it will be cheaper but it will not sell better than Chevy Bolt or Tesla 3 with larger range.

Several things come to mind, most are nit-picky:

1. Offer AWD with a conventional automatic in the sport models to provide a truly sporty option for enthusiasts.
2. Allow me to turn off adaptive cruise.
3. Cooled seats are weak, even on highest setting. It's hot in Texas!
4. More places to store stuff in the front seat area. The little cubby in front of the cup holders and the center console bin are not quite enough.
5. Remove the Alcantara insert on the steering wheel and just use normal leather on the SR trim. I am concerned it will get very grubby over time and be difficult/impossible to clean.

Overall though, this is a very capable car with solid handling for its size, plenty of power at all speeds, long distance comfort, and surprisingly excellent fuel economy on the road. It fits 95% of what I need in a car given the fact that I drive 30,000 miles/year.

 

Well I don't have my max yet, but the thing I already know I don't like is the cargo space. My old Azera has a whopping 16 cubic feet (above average)... the max seems tiny by comparison. My wife is a (car) hoarder, our trunk is always full of random junk no matter how hard I try :-/

 

2 cars ago, I had a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP, loved the heads up display. It's a shame it never really caught on, and I think those kits where you have to use your cell phone are stupid.
