P01574 and intermittent speedometer operation 02 i35
Ok it seems like one issue after the other, fixed the exhaust now the speedometers acting weird. It drops or stays at zero while I'm driving and other times it will come back on. It's showing a po1574, 1212, 10001 codes. I can't seem to locate the vehicle speed sensor if anyone has a picture of the location that would help.

uhh been seaching this site and youtube and cant find any correct info on where the exact location of the VSS speed sensor is on the 02-03 maxima 02-04 I35. People are getting the different speed sensors confused. My 4th gen maxima vss went bad, no speedometer or odometer opereation. found it in the rear of the tranny by firewall. It is a sensor held in with 10mm bolt and has a gear on the end, the 5.5 gen is different. the hole with the 10mm bolt is there but its only a cap with no plug and no gear or anything. There has to be a speedsensor with a gear somewhere on the 5.5 tranny and im not talking about the revolution speed sensor or the turbine speed sensors which are the two under the driver side of the tranny.

I guess it's also possible that a shorted sensor could mess up the module, too, but idk for sure. The intermittent symptom says module failure to me, otherwise, I don't believe you'd throw all those codes.

I'm tellin ya, it uses the wheel sensors. Other people with your codes had a bad ABS module. They are known to fail, just isn't super common. Swappy time from junkyard.

still getting the same codes now throwing the cel po500, po1212, and 1574 at same time. You guys are saying abs module but there are no abs lights on the dash saying that its bad, only thing is the transmission light (a/t light flashes like 16 times at start up) speedo works when i first start the car and drive it short distance in the morning, but after that its dead.

You can remove the abs module off the pump, but I think you'll have to cut a socket to length to avoid removing the pump.

The only way I would do that is if I got one from the junkyard and capped all the ports. Bleeding the pump requires the dealer to do it.

oh gosh well im gonna leave well enough alone then and try to manuver the current pump assembly to remove the computer. I got one from a car a the pullapart but at the time i didnt know what size the hex head screws were.

Well I attempted to remove the abs computer module but only managed to get the top 2 screws out, Looks like one is rusted pretty bad so i didnt even bother to try and remove it. Looks like im going to have to just remove the lines and replace the entire thing, but i wont do it until i figure out how much its going to cost me.

I mean like just replacing the entire thing with another unit abs control and computer, But I dont want to remove any brake lines if its gonna be a pain to bleed myself. But in my situation, that looks like the only possible way i can get it out of there, because the maxima and i-35 abs pumps are different smh.
