5spd swap 92 GXE

whats goin on yall brief summary im 19 been out of school for about a year and bought this 92 GXE few months before i graduated, ive put almost 11k on the odo and honestly drove it like a skyline a lot of the time i had it and my transmission grinded gears real hard on my lunch break the other day and left me stuck in neutral (am able to put it in park), even if its rebuildable id like to do it and keep it on the side for someone who would need it for theirs but i don't want it back in my max. I was reading some stuff about someone doing it way back before i was even 1 years old lol anyways; 89-91 5spds will line up to the VG and as well as the 92-94 ones that came with the VE engine only difference with those id have to change my axles differential mounts? Kinda looking for a babied *** summary of how/wtf i need to do it exactly & which 5spd is best to swap to my vg30e

08/16/2020 the day i got the car only pic i have on my computer lol

Z32 is RWD so that won't work.

if you're asking for steps then it might not be the best project to tackle swapping it to RWD. easiest way to go is to swap in the 5spd from a VG or VE maxima. keep it FWD and keep moving.

you'll need to swap hubs if you go VE 5spd. if you stay with VG then you can keep the hubs. you're supposed to swap the axle bearing carrier but not sure if people even notice there's a slight difference.

the pain is to correctly drill the holes for the master and run the lines to the slave.

wish you the best of luck if you can still find the parts.

Keep it FWD. Either the VG 5 speed trans. or the VE 5 speed trans. will work. All the info should be in the stickies on what you will need and how to do it.

DanNY: I never got to replace the axle carrier as was not aware about It at the time or I was told it didn't matter. Mind you I did this swap over 15 years ago and until this past March I was able to find a VE 5spd and swapped it in. Still riding on the same axle carrier for pass. side.

Blacksheeptina: Are you trying to do the swap as well? I have a my old VG 5speed trans. just taking up space in my garage.

Im going off old memories but wasn't there a discussion about the VE pilot bearing For the VG manual to VE manual swap and maybe the variable intake with the power valve being VE 5 speed manual specific for swapping a VE manual into a VE automatic car?
and yes I do still lurk this forum sometimes lol

the carrier looked identical to me but i swapped it anyway from auto to manual. the VE to VG manual should be same. i had a VG 5spd trans but then swapped in a VE trans on my VG after that input shaft rattle. i thought there was talks that there's a slight difference and may cause the axle seal to leak if you had the auto carrier and swapped in a 5spd.
