Blackcat has similar symptoms to mine and we are both SC'ed. His cause is the idler pulley went bad.
You missed my other postings. I sent my blower to Vortech last week.
When I took everything off I noticed signs of melting on the idler pulley but that wasn't the cause. I swapped out DanNY's tensioner pulley with the Stillen one and that helped a bit but the noise didn't go away. Using my ratchet with a long extension as a stethescope and placing it against the blower I could hear the bearings going bad.

How was your turnaround time, bosco500? Vortech got my blower last Thursday and when I called them Wednesday they told me they'll call me by Friday about the diagnosis.

I actually had to send mine to stillen b/c it was under warranty. I fought with stillen for 6 weeks, had them send it to vortech telling me i would have to pay $400 to pull it apart. I fought with them for another 2 weeks, finally I found out that stillen told them it wasnt under warranty. I faxed my receipt to Vortech and they had me a rebuilt blower at my doorstep in a week. Words of wisdom, DONT deal with stillen for warranty issues. They will rip you a new *** hole. Go directly to Vortech.

I'm calling them after work (3 hours ahead) if I don't hear from them.

Yep, I've been dealing only with Vortech at this point.

thanks guys for the reply

BlackCat : something that I forgot to mention. I didnt buy a belt for the install. So Kevin used the belt for 2.87 and it fits fine. He checked the tension and it is ok. I will look for the source of the noise again this weekend.

I cannot hear this noise in P and N. The noise is not loud after I drove the car. Does this sound like ur situation?

oh God....please dont let me deal with vortech.

that reminds me to look for a Gates belt before I leave Toronto...

Sounded like deja vu when I read your post above about the noise going away in P and N....Jaime at Vortech told its either the idler/tensioner pulley or the blower.

I should phone Vortech before I leave for the day to see if they opened it up.

Latest Update
Well guys, I spoke with Jaime and was told that my blower needed just minor repairwork. I found out that all I needed was to replace the bearings. Cost: $363.95 and they hope to have it shipped out by next Tuesday. I just hope that it does get out by then.
What surprised him was that I was not told of their findings and that he gave the papers to Mike so that he could call me. Hearing that just ticked me off.
So if you have to deal with Vortech deal with Jaime as he has more customer service experience than Mike.

Anyhow I'm calling it a day and going back to the hotel room. Catch you all on Monday!

Ive had to send my blower back to Vortech 2x because of the grinding sound. The SC always worked fine it just made a grinding sound. They just rebuilt it for a couple of months ago....and its tip-top now. Stil a little noise but... its always worked fine. In my research I've found that the grinding sound is pretty normal as long as it dosnr affect boost... good luck.
