Optimal exhaust setup for turbo max?

Ok first my question. What exhaust setup should i have if i'm going to turbo my max. I'm asking because i'm going to start building everything up on my max before i turbo it in late janurary and i'm going with a full custom setup (not buying a kit). I have a friend who works on and owns an eclipse GSX and he says 3" pipe all the way from the engine back is the way to go. But i've heard ppl on the org say that you only need full 3" if your going for high hp like over 350fwhp. Is this correct. I am actually shooting for 350-370hp but i don't want to have a significant loss in low end power and i'm worried that a 3" pipe will do that. Also if i did chose to go 3" how would i do that with Y-pipe's its been my knowledge that they only come in 2.5" if so would i have to fabricate those also, cause that would be a real beech! Well this post is already getting long and i have some more questions depending on those answers so please any help would be great.

Oh yeah and i'm wondering if anyone has a better turbo suggestion as in which one to go with. So far i've been thinking t03/t04 hybred (i believe thats what comes in the kits or is it a t28?) What i'm shooting for is the best mix of good HP (i need it to put out about 250fwhp tops) and i want it to spool up as quickly as possible, 2.5K rpms would be nice but i dunno if its possible with that kind of horsepower?

-3" Turbo piping

-3" Warpspeed B-pipe, with or without resonator

-Flowmasters 40 series if you want it domestic like (loud), 60-series if you want it quiet and import like (mellowed), or keep the stock muffler for optimum quietness. You'd only gain like 3hp from the muffler while turbocharged anyways.

Depending on where you live dictates weither or not you should get SS or Aluminized. I live in FLA so my system is aluminized. If you live in snowy area's where they salt the roads, or live on the beach, better go with SS.

BTW, Turbo97SE aka Nigel is running around 430 crank HP when he turns up the boost fully, and his kicks in around 2000, even under less boost.

Thanx craig mack

Ok now i'm good and confused. Does the turbo eliminate the need for y-pipes? i guess i know alil less than i thought if thats even possible. Also what kind of turbo does turbomax use, 430hp at 2k rpms exceeds what i'm looking for which is good.

If its way to loud which i don't like, i'll go with 2 bomb style mufflers, ? i already have 1 aerospeed muffler thats 2.5 inch. If the stock muffler on a turbo setup only causes you to lose 3hp then i might just go with 2 of those mufflers and for a better look and sound. Oh yeah, and what type of turbo is turbomax using with his 430 hp at 2K rpms???
Yeah WSP makes 3" Y-pipes, but with a turbo you don't use them. You need to make custom piping that replaces the Y-pipe. But a shop can do that for you easily...

If you wanna use 2 mufflers for your dual setup, your gonna have to bang up your tire well and custom weld some hangers in there.

yeah i changed my last post when i read the new posts about not needing the y-pipes. I've got someone to do all my custom work for me so fabricating stuff won't be too much of a big deal. I already knew about the spare tire well thing, i don't mind at all for the look i'll get it'll be well worth it.

Ok my last post didn't work all that well but anyways, What turbo setup does nigel have? ie what type of turbo is he using? And is he the one with the built engine also? if so does that have an effect on boost kicking in at lower rpms.

Hey TonyGotSkilz, a Y-Pipe will always give you more power, so if you have a Turbo or S/C that one more reason to get an aftermarket Y-Pipe. That would be a little contradictory to have a Turbo or S/C set-up without an after market y-pipe, why cuz you create more power with the Turbo then you restrict the exhaust flow by keeping the stock Y-Pipe which has the pre catalytic converter build in and a smaller diameter pipe. Aftermarket Y-Pipe doesn't have pre-cats and have bigger diameter pipe.I hope it help you to understand.

Cheers

Weeeaaaakkkkk Craig just plain weak.

But even a gay guy is better than someone who has to ask "what do I call my maxima?" "I want to buy some riced up stickers!"

hehe

I want a Y-pipe with my turbo...

FYI with a turbo setup you no longer have a y-pipe

If you want it on the quiet side, get a resonator. From what I have heard flows sound like crap on a boosted V6. The 3" system Warpspeed has put together for me has the longets resonator he could fit and a magnaflow muffler, I think it should be fairly quiet. But 3" systems are usually louder.

Provided the stock muffler was 3". Since the stock muffler is only 2-1/4", it would be pointless to use a 3" system with anything less than a 3" muffler! I will soon be installing my full 3" system Y-B-M and redynoing, I thinking I will gain 15-20whp & wtq, prolly more I hope.

I have a 20" Glasspack in my B-pipe. It REALLY cleaned up the sound. Are you getting a glasspack style, or turbo tube style? Turbo tube is quieter, but isn't as deep and restricts more flow. Despite what Jeffrey says, these new glasspacks can last for like 4 years.
