Why does my BOV sound better facing passenger side than driverside?

Ok, so I decided to switch out my platinum spark plugs to copper 1-step colder plugs and when I was finishing I decided to face the BOV towards the passengerside when previously it was facing the driverside and it somehow made the BOV sound twice as loud and long with a higher whistle pitch which I like. Why is this? Is it because the air is making a u-turn coming out of the pipe where the driverside method is pretty much letting the air go somewhat in a straight line? Well, I'm pretty much excited about the new sound, but I am a little upset that it made a difference since I've been facing it towards the driverside ever since I installed it 2 month ago. Who else has experienced this? Just thought I would share.

I had the Blitz DD BOV when I initially installed the SC back in late Nov.'02. That one had a swooooosh sound to it, which was ok, but after hearing BrianV's Greddy Type-S BOV I made the switch since it makes more of a whistle sound like the HKS Super-Sequential BOV. I can't really describe the sound it makes but it'll make you switch out the Blitz for one. Here is a link to sound clips of various BOV's. But yea, it sounds much more like a HKS whistle sound than the Blitz swoosh sound.

Oh, are you talking about a humming sound before it makes the swoosh sound? I think you have your BOV a little too tight. Both of my BOVs did that when the tightness adjustment bolt was set too tight. I then set my BOVs to its loosest setting without letting the car stall at idle after a rev. With it that loose, I can just rev a little and it'll blow-off air with no humming at all then when it was tight and usually the air would go back into the blower causing it to make that humming sound which is definetely bad for the blower. Is that the humming sound your talking about?

Hmm, its hard to say. For some reason even at the very loosest setting on my Greddy BOV, it still won't stall, so I screwed it in with like the first 2 threads, so its pretty much at the loosest setting without it falling out. I guess if you have it at its loosest setting and it still has that humming sound, I dont know what to tell you.

Well, me and Phil (hookedup98se) both had Blitz DD's and we coudn't hear them at all with the hood closed. He now has the HKS Super-Sequential and he says he can hear his BOV at redline when he shifts, since he's 5-spd. Now I'm auto and I can hear my Greddy Type-S only when I let off the gas with the rpms anywhere from 4K and up in any gear. The people outside of the car can hear it even better. If I take it to 4K in D while its still in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gear and let off the pedal it'll blow-off really loud. I don't think doing it from 1st, or 2nd is good for the auto tranny so I usually take it up to 60mph with overdrive off in D and I can hear it under the hood when I let off.

blitz DD is WEAK sauce.
you can only hear it if you're DRIVING the car, even WITH a 5speed.

greddy type S sounds like wind blowing throw a civ, it whistles.

but at least when at full boost the blow off is cool...

the HOOONNNNNNNNNN noise at start up means you got your bov on a little too tight.

So I tightened it a little where it didn't vent little air at idle and OMG! its superloud! Its sounds too good with it tightened like that but I decided to put it back to the loosest setting, I can't afford a blower repair for messed up bearings. I did get a little humming when it was tightened I put it back to normal, but it is still louder then when it was facing the driverside.
