My question...what is causing the dip in the air fuel curve? Maybe you could get a larger plateau on the hp and torque curves by figuring that out.

The dip actually cost him to make more HP. The dip in the A/F ratio means he's running richer.

I can't seem to access the chart now, but I believe that if you look closely you will see that there was a dip in the A/F curve, just below a point in the torque/hp curves where there is a dip or decrease as well.

If you were correct, then my question would have been "why not make it lean like that along the whole curve?"

I believe I am right, but you may still show me to be wrong.
