Belt jumped!

I was at the DNE meet tonight and at the end I had my car running at idle with the hood open and all the sudden I heard something next to the SC and it looked like my belt was shreading. I shut the car down and the belt jumped over one tooth on the SC pulley.
By the time I got home it has worn the edge of my belt off.

Was....is my belt to loose or too tight?

It has been on for about 10 day with no problems. WTF happened?

Re: Belt jumped!

Same thing happened to me last July. Belt jumped a rib, then shredded itself. The original shop that installed it said the belt may have been too tight, but I could not verify that.

Jaime (JAY25) helped me install a new belt (well he did almost all the work while I watched) and it's been perfect for the last 8 months.

Are you running the factory SC boost pulley? Or did you go w/ a smaller one? I have the 3.33

I am running the 3.125 pulley on a V2. I am not looking forward to replacing the belt.

replacing the belt should be easy cause it does not require removal of the tensioner pulley assembly...just my take on it...routing is only hindered by lack of space.

it will require to remove the tensioner pulley not the bracket though to get to the idler pulley that will have to come off. Your plate is not aligned thats why you shredded your belt or make sure the idler has no rails on it, it does not suppose to have rails.

my arms and back are still sore from replacing a belt this weekend.

it took me 8 hours working time (pluse 4 hours of research time) for my first shredding belt.

now you guys see why techs charge $500 plus to diagnose and fix the problem. It is very hard work in the end but feels great if you fix the problem yourself
