2.87"/2.62" pulley checklist

Hi everyone, I've decided to take a hop into smaller pulley land once again and have a Q or two : I want to make sure I didn't miss anything here before I go ahead with this...

- My friend in Z-land has hooked me up with TT injectors
- Walbro hi-flow pump
- S-AFC2 is lying around as we all know

- 12:1 Vortech FMU disc?

- Can the V2 handle a 2.62" pulley? Or will this take it beyond spec.. I realize anything below 3.6" voids the warranty, but the point is that I don't want to exceed specification.. I know 2.87" is still within tolerance of what my V2 was built to do, but heck - I'm crazy and want to try out the 2.62"... I want to be remembered as the guy running around with the smallest "one" on the forums

... for those running the 2.87" - was the 12:1 disc a relatively stoichometric a/f ratio or did it make you run rich? I'm trying to gauge whether the 12:1 would be enough for the 2.62" if I take that route... then I can lean out/richen the mixture slightly from there.

I don't think you'll need a 12:1 FMU disc with the TT injectors. IIRC MardiGraxMax is using something like a 3:1 or 4:1 with the TT injectors.

Hmm.. I don't think they have a 3:1 - I didn't realize I would have to take a step backwards with the discs though : I take it a 4:1 would be ok?

Do you have any way to monitor knock?

The sum of parts will not allow you to do this safely, it will need to be tuned.

2.87 is about it for a V2, 2.62 on a V2 is far out of spec.

Darnit.. so that's why you people stopped there

I was thinking of using the S-AFC2's knock sensor display - someone suggested I plug in a second knock sensor in and plug it in to the AFC and monitor it that way.. then again it won't do anything other than display KS info, but I can always tune to a certain point

I've done a search on the J&S but didn't come up with much.. this is a research in progress right now - I'm hoping to figure it out around the same time I get the ball rolling on the IC / tranny and everything is "in pieces".

So much for being the first 2.62" though.. I don't want to hurt anything

only way to run the 2.62 is to send the blower back to vortech and have them upgrade it, if they do it right you prob woun't even want the 2.62 but still fun fun fun

Neh I'll stick to a 2.87!

I'll just search the local scrapyard for Nissan Micra injectors.. they were a hidden gem and can outdo any other production injectors on the market..
