Exhaust wrap, how does it continue to smell?

Well just put on the wrapping on last night and after starting the car and driving it 2miles, It started to REALL smell inside the car as the wrap got hot and I guess starting heating up and burning some stuff.

But after driving here to UNC Chappel Hill (250mile drive) it still smells under the hood.

I just want to rule out what it is? I want to make sure it aint something else burning/smelling. Mainly due to the fact it really stinks.

Also I got some wrap left over. Currently I wrapped the whole downpipe past the tranny pan. And wrapped part of the Ypipe, basically wrapped the pipe from the front header to the wastegate and small section from the wastegate to the turbo.

Should I wrap the other half of the Ypipe as well?

Man I need a lift.

I dealt with the same issue on teh flex section of my y-pipe but I could not smell it inside the car...only when I was working on the middle area around the back of the engine.

only thing is it got wet a few times and dried out so often, I guess it just did not make as much odor after a while...under hood I can imagine it would smell for a while unless you soak and dry it a few times before re-installing.

The smell should go away after 5 semi-long trips. Afterwards, it will smell on occasion. Does your smell like cookies? Mine did.

Dont smell like cookies here, more like burnt crap. But what about my question on the extra wrap left? Should I continue to wrap the entire Ypipe? or go further down to the cat from the downpipe?

Hahaha Sweet and pleasing? Hahaha

God no not on this one. It definetely smells like burnt cloth.

Kev, quick question, what was that site that LatinMax and a few others bought gauges from? something like groupo.com or something. I cant remember, they sell Greddy, Apexi, HKS gauges.

I want to get these brands, but keep running into issues cause I dont want a bar reading, I want PSI reading.

Thats them. Just remember that sometime they are a little slow. I ordered and it took 4-5 weeks to get them. They were nice and kept me up to date but it still took a while.
