is it possible to s/c a 2k2?

I was wondering if it is possible to supercharger or turbocharger for that matter a 2k2 maxima. A buddy and I are having a discussion about this and I would like people who know more to answer this question.

Yeah its possible.. there is no kit out right now but that is just due to the fact that the car is fairly new. If you found a really good performance shop that does custom work they should be able to do it, but expect to pay a lot.

Or you could simply buy Nigel/Hal's 4th gen. turbo kit and mod it to fit the VQ35, like several people already have for the 2K-2K1 VQ30.

Not much difference.

Are there any mods, outside of new piping, necessary to convert a 4th gen kit to fit the 2K2?

The intercooler->throttle-body pipe, maybe the downpipe and/or reverse Y-pipe(depends on the 6spd tranny vs. 5spd), add a fed spec front exhaust manifold, and add an aux fuel pump for the returnless fuel system.

Just a guess though, since nobody has done it.

So you think it cannot be done Big Dog? I ask you cause you have the set up that I want to put on my 2K2. SC seems out of the plan because of the size of the engine and location of the belts as to the intake and so on. Turbo charging seems that it would be able to be accomplished because of the location of the Turbo in your pics.

He doesn't like Hal right now and those kits are fab'd on the spot at a local muffler shop.

Chaser: Do I think it can be done? It can with the right person doing the custom work, but no one to date has done it, if you want to be the first, no problem there. Just get a highly recommended performance shop that will back the work if there are problems later.

A VQ35 can be boosted but as everyone says there are not kits on the market to do so. And the only known boosted VQ35's are in 350Z's.

Except for a select few who are using crazy amounts of Nitrous.

I feel tempted to pick up a used 2k2 Max just to make a point with this

I volunteer the time... anyone wanna volunteer some money? Kev... how bout .org sponsorship?

On a more serious note, find a GOOD, COMPETANT shop that does a lot of performance work and has a good reputation, give them 5k, and keep 1 thousand in your pocket to float, and you're probably guaranteed to have a turbocharged Maxima after a few weeks/month of waiting. It's a sacrifice, but it would pay off.

There are Turbo and Supercharge Kits for the 350Z and I have heard of some G35's and its probable possible on all the rear drive using the 350Z kit to include the FX35. The application has got to be possible for the engine the only problem is that our Max's are front wheel drive and the engines are loaded side ways. If all else fails hit your infiniti dealership.
