Is that your final answer?

Sure, for cheaper money I can get a muscle car and make it go fast, or an SRT-4, WRX etc...but that's not what does it for me. a mid 13 sec. car is fine. As much fun as they are, I would hate not having all the other things the Maxima is better at. I want something that is fast and fun, but has the luxury of the leather, BOSE, refinement, and smoothness. There is no muscle car, or Neon that can even come close to that, especially the interior luxury. The cars offering all of this are expensive because you have to jump to a high end car. The GTI/R32 is the only other car that has all of the criteria, but I like the Maxima's reliability better, and it's more unique to have a boosted Max.
If I really wanted to go fast, I would get a 1995 M3 and turbocharge that. I've seen some videos, and they are insanely fast. I have a video of a SC E36 M# catching and passing a 911 Turbo!

I get the impression that it's pretty unpredictable, especially for a daily driver.
I respect your opinion on the luxury of the Maxima, like how you love the interior and everything but I hate my interior. It's a pain in the A$$ everytime I get in and out of the damn thing. (I'm 6'5) I had a Taurus SHO before this and that car was VERY comfortable in my opinion.
Turbocharging an M3 isn't exactly cheap. BMW's are more expensive than Maxima's and so is their aftermarket. If you wanted to go fast then you could buy something a heck of alot cheaper and make it a heck of a lot faster than a boosted E36.

Hey, I had an SHO too! It was a 93, but auto. I loved that car, but way to many problems at the end. I do miss that engine. I'm 6'3", but have no comfort issues. I do wish the seats were more supportive like in a GTI. I know that a SC'd Max will require extra attention, especially belts, but most of what I read hasn't been horrible. Clutch and trans could be a problem, but I plan to have the SC for a few years and then take it off and hopefully get something like a G35. I love the speed you can get in a muscle car, but I personally would not go that route because I feel I can get more out of a SC Max...decent power and luxury.
I know the E36 is more $$$, but man you can do a lot!

. SHO's are so unreliable it isn't even funny, omg my SHO had alot of problems. It was so fun to drive though, mine was auto too but it hauled a$$ on the highway!!! Yeh, I wouldn't mind having a supercharger on my Max. I mean I've ridden in a couple of boosted Maximas and they are really strong!! I can see you are looking for the mature luxury sedan over the no holds-barred tuner.
Well, one thing I think we can both agree on is that the SHO had both of those characteristics even though it was a POS!
