CAI for supercharger

I know it's a newbie question...but I'm a newbie. Where did everyone get their CAI piece from?

What's the piping made of? rubber? I was hoping to find a solid aluminum or steel piece.

Tony, I ordered a 3.5" 90 degree mandrel bent piping from my muffler shop...

In retrospect, I would have gotten a 3" one and flared the ending to fit 3.5" opening of S/C and silicone connector.

stahlheaders.com has 3.5" diameter mandrel bent 180's for something like $26 (they rape you on shipping, thought). Cut it in half to make a 90 and sell the unused half to somebody.

Hmm..is it because it's easier to find a 3" filter? or maybe you wouldn't have to cut extra 0.5" of hole?

I got my piece of piping(exhaust) at napa for $26. It is 3 1/2 inch on both ends. The connecting rubber section is from home depot for around $4 or so. I cut a big A$$ hole for mine and got the filter which is also 3 1/2 on the net for $31. Im glad I went with 3 1/2 since the whole point was to get the most amount of air.

Both but more the latter...

The airhorn? inlet may be 3.5" but it's actually smaller...

go to home depot and get some piping, its not steal its a funny name but does the same thing. I think i paid like 13 dollars for everything, definitely less than 20. Thats not just for piping but for this other piece u have to....dam i dont know what anything is called, i just know how they look. Its not steal though.

For the most power you want the largest pipe you can squeeze in their. 3.5 is the best.

I think I seen what you are talking about. It's ABS...basically plastic. I guess it must be uniform 3.5" throughout the bend since it's molded plastic.

If it's what I'm thinking of, the wall thickness is pretty thick and the inner diameter is substantially reduced. Better to go with mandrel bent steel bends.

Here: stahlheaders.com

You want part number 215350000 180° U-bend 3-1/2"

thanks for the pics , and the info on the piping. I assume you guys used a 3.5" coupler to attach it to the blower?

Say guys, is there any space on the drivers side? I'm thinking of relocating the windshield washer reservoir to that spot so I can set up the CAI.

I used the RU-1785 but that requires the removal of the reservoir tank... that's why i was suggesting maybe a 3" version... The one suggested above may work without removal of the tank...

Yes there is space but since it's a mirror image, the tank wouldn't simply bolt up... I'm using that space for my AWIC tank...

Thanks Chunger. I figured that there's no bolt holes on the drivers side so I though of drilling some holes and using rivets to anchor it down.

Thanks Chunger. Hopefully with the taper filter, I can still keep the reservoir tank.

What filter did everyone use and still able to keep the reservoir tank? RU-3130? Maybe I should get rid of reservoir tank regarless. It will probably restrict airflow to the fiter plus I want a filter with as much surface area as I can get.
