that BOV is loud!!! louder than the V1! it's kinda weird how when you let off the throttle and the BOV goes away...the revs drop and the S/C is quiet, then as the rpm's stabilize back around idle, it gets much louder again...

requin, is that the gen1 or gen2 V1?

you could probably look at the serial # on the V1 and call vortech...they would be able to tell you...

I was just wondering if it was a gen1 or gen2 b/c the gen2 V1 according to brian v is just as quiet as a V2...as opposed to a gen1 V1 which is the one seen in the fast and furious I think...

Do all BOV's sound like that on our cars? I've heard other people complaining about the flutter but I never got a clear answer if they all do it. Anyone got a vid of a clean sounding BOV?

The v1 at idle is what makes the noise. In the video you can't hear the true sound but it is the loudest/higher pitched sound. In person it almost sounds like something is rattling extremely fast. I have heard Paul's car in person. I never before heard of 1st and 2nd gen v1's... His v1 is loud, mine seemed louder but maybe because his was rebuilt and mine was growing old?? Anyway, it is fine for everyday driving. If anything most people pull up beside you in traffic and think something is wrong with your car. My car sounds terrible without my screaming intake.

I am almost sure the V1 in Fast and Furious is the generation 1....

requin, you have the V1 2nd gen? can't wait to see the higher-res vid...!
I really wish my V1 was louder..all you guys sayin you can hear from a block away...I can barely hear mine at the end of my Driveway, but my blower only has about 600 miles on it. I bet you it the Second gen blower...

Even when I pull up next to people, I dont even really think they can hear it..I really wish it was louder

That is terrible. I would hate for the car to sound broken. That is what that vid sounds like to me. I know the blower makes a beautiful whine but that BOV is terrible. Are there any BOV's for SC's that sound more like the chirping of turbo'ed cars. I'd rather have no blow off noise than that fluttering.

Ive been in Pauls Maxima...his BOV under boost letting off does not have the Flutter at all...its more of a constant Pssshhhhh.....I ordered the Vortech Blow off valve jsut because I took a ride in his car...the Vortech unit does sound good

Glad to hear your car is running well.

It is a sc max, why make it chirp like a turbo? Can it not sound unique.

Matt- when I said flutter I meant at max boost small flutter sound coming from cai.

Videos can't give that true sound. The bov sounds suttle under normal driving but under boost like Matt said it is nice. It is like a burst of air. Not so much as crisp as a srt-4 (just a comparison) but that air sound.

Your BOV is quiet? I don't care if its quiet. I've never even seen a blown max but I can't wait.

When does Byron open? As its looking I'll be lucky to get it back together by the mid March. Things have gotten reallly slow all of the sudden I'm waiting on some important parts. For example, its been three weeks since I dropped my valve covers off to be polished. I need those so I can seal the engine back up. Then I can move the engine to storage and move the car out of storage. Until then I'm just slowly shining up the tranny. I still need to find some shift rods. I still need to fill the engine mounts. The list gets longer everyday.

I'm so happy I could cry. I'll tell ya; it was the quickest I've ever spent $800.

I ended up paying $800 w/ pulley. The dude wouldn't let me out the door without buying a pulley for it. Whatever. I'm calling Vortech tomorrow to make sure it was rebuilt. He said he has had it sitting on a shelf in his shop for almost two years. Before that it only logged 8,000 miles. He couldn't find the papers of the rebuild but I'm not worried. It is the best and only good car speed shop in the Madison area and he is very trustworthy. Calling Vortech will only be a confirmation.

Page two of the homepage for more details and pics.

That's not true. I've got the V2 and the V1 I heard when I was in Toronto a few years back was hella loud at almost half a block's distance. And thats with the hood down to boot!

I hope its loud as ****.

C MAX you should really get a homepage. I'd love to look at all your pics. Yes, that welding will come in handy. At this point I have no idea how to TIG and I don't think we have the right gas. I'm thinking of many options for the coolant line. Its hard to explain them all but a lot of work will be needed.

What Brian calls the 2nd gen V1 is the Stillen kit that came with a V2 blower and the original V1 kit bracket.
