Fixed my boost problem

My wastegate would stay open at idle and I wouldn't see the boost that I dialed in on the BC.

The problem was that the vacuum source for the solenoid was from the intake plenum - which in turn went to the top of the tial WG. The side nipple of the WG went to the outlet of the turbo, resulting in a ever so tiny pressure difference. This caused the malfunctioning of the boost controller.

It's been months since I've boosted beyond 6 psi - which is what the WG spring will hold.

I opened her up to 12 psi today and i'm in love with the vq all over again.

Only problem is that she seemed awfully boggy. I did another run and the Wideband tells me that I start off at 10:1 a/f and drop down to 7:1 a/f by full boost. Looks like its time to tune.

The only worry I have is that already, the airflow map on my emanage is correcting the injectors from 555cc - > 260cc. I'm going to have to pull upwards of 15% fuel on the air flow map, and I'm afraid that my timing is going to be whack - can anyone else confirm that?

Drop your base fuel pressure as low as you can.

The less you mess with MAF conditioning, the better IMHO.

So I've got the aem which drops down to 20 something psi... You're saying to drop the fuel pressure - while lowering the correction ratio that I've got w/ the emanage?

for example instead of 555cc's for the injector size - maybe 450 or what not?...

Exactly, I'd drop the fuel pressure down(while monitoring AFR) as low as possible until you have atomization problems, ie rough idle, back it back a bit and then start reducing the injector scale factor. I'd probably say 20-25psi is as low as you should drop. Also, since you can monitor injector pulse width, I'd try and keep peak duty cycle around 80%.

Let your AFR tell you how much of each though.

i dropped fuel press down to 20 psi....up till the turbo spools to around 8 psi - im around 9.5 - 10:1, once i hit full boost - currently at 14 - it drops to 7.9:1. It's a little better than before - but now it's got me wondering if I have a leaky injector - again - or if i need to condition the maf some more.
