4th gen SC on a 3.5?

JC gave me this idea... he mentioned install the 4th gen timing chains then the SC..

I just want some feed back on this and what to look for, basicly your 02.. there are quite a few heads looking for a boost option and this might be one if I can get some info from the guys that have them or have knowledge of the swap...

so, is it possible or not is my Q?

and your 02 on what to do would be appreciated....

EDIT: is the SC to small for the 3.5 engine? you think it would "full spool" to early and leave little boost for high end......... I'm lost please help..

thanx, TEK......

It would work, most likely, however you'd have to eliminate the CVTC which would mean a CEL at the LEAST.

The V2 can support ~400whp.

Oh yeah, the VQ35s torque with the V2 SCs top-end would be a PERFECT match IMHO.

can you break it down for me..

it would work with our 3.5 timing chain or the 4th gen one?

and what the hell is a CVTC?

No, I can't break it down, since it has never been done. However, the theory is just like VQ35s into 4th gen swaps. Basically, remove the VQ35 timing cover, VTC pulleys, and replace with VQ30 sprockets, JWT sprocket adapters, and the VQ30 timing cover...then bolt on the SC like any VQ30 would. You'll need to massage the intake piping a bit to work with the 5.5gen throttle body placement, but probably not much.

yea I figured the pipes will have to be custom fitted.. but if it will work with the sprockets and all the pulleys I will look into it..

I need to find me a mech that knows about this **** to help me...

thanx.....

There's MaxTuning in NY or Tilley in PA that could probably easily do it.

I think you'll have more electronic/software issues than mechanical fitment issues.

It needs to be tuned for proper fuel requirements.

SC = more air = more fuel.

Can't help you with that. I'm an N/A guy ...

But the kits from Stillen typically come with their own fuel management system ...

Now I'm only a spectator ..

You'd just use either an eManage or Split Second piggy-back like Vortech and Greddy use on their SC/TC kits.

You will have a check engine light due to the IVT(intake valve timing) control not being able to rotate the intake cam once you replace the VTC pulleys with the VQ30 timing sprockets. However, from what I can tell from the FSM, the ECU shouldn't kill the fun with the fuel-cut countermeasures. IIRC, people have had IVT codes without having the ECU failsafe mode limit RPM under 3000rpm or whatever.

what about the oil drain back plate and the belt adjuster bracket? Are the placements and fittments the same as the 3.0?

I have no clue where those are, but if you tell me where they should be, I can jack my car up and look for them, and take some pictures.

Instead of running the timing gears from the older engine and dealing with the cam gear issues, why not weld another pulley to the crank pulley and use it to drive the supercharger?

Human error would keep it from being balanced and straight. The only way another pully could be added to the crank would be to machine it out of aluminium, or to have it cast in steel. Both of those options with buying a used charger would be more expensive than buying a new unit from stillen. Welding new brackets for the SC would be much more practical if one was to posess the skills.
