Well hell. Blown motor.

A friend of mine ran my car hard, even after I asked him not too because I hadn't adjusted timing yet... Anyway, blew the motor at only 9 psi.. Freaking pissed. White exhaust coming out the back, oil all over the front... I'm thinking cooked headgasket + busted ring land on the front bank.

Anyway, I found a 40,000 mile maxima motor locally for about 5 bills w/ core exchange... looks like that'll be going in sometime maybe this week.

Any suggestions on things to change while i'm in there? I'm already replacing the lower oil pan with the one I have on my motor now.... so that means that 3 seals will be taken care of there.... Any other suggestions on what other seals to check/ reseal?

What a pita.

I thought about it - I know it bolts up... What all would I have to change? I know I want to keep the 555cc's, so I'd have to change the lower intake plenum as well as the fuel rail to the vq30de's... and I need an rpm switch for the vi... but what else?

Surprised you blew the motor at 9psi. What type of AF are you tuned at?

I'm surprised too, I've been running between 12-14 the last few days with no problems what so ever.

I was between 11:1 and 12:1... a/f wasn't the problem... timing was too high, because I had such a high correction ratio via emanage. So, it thought that I was actually flowing 4.5 psi of air per se... I had the f'ing J&S sitting in my car too, the one thing that woulda saved her... oh well.

You will have to figure out how to use the IACV, you can wire up the 5th gen one to work or you can get an adapter plate for 60bucks I believe for the 4th gen IACV.
There might be a few sensors/components that need to be swapped as well, EVAP and EGR stuff comes to mind.

Nothing major. Since you would have to use the 4th gen lower IM, you will have to drill 2 holes to make it work.

meh, the power diff. doesn't seem to be a big enough deal for me to mess with that.... Besides, between 40 hrs work and summer classes, it leaves me with little time to work on the car... I think I'll just swap a VQ30de, and maybe even tear down the blown one and go from there.

How does the saying go? Build her better, stronger, faster...

Were you adjusting fuel via the injector harness?. If not that could have been your downfall i think. Adding the fuel via maf condition would advance timming(or do i have it backwards).

I'll tell you if you tell me why you asked in this thread instead of starting a new one?

Sorry about the engine Turbomax.

No, it was through fuel press. Besides, I didnt add any fuel via the maf conditioning method - i was only subtracting.

Yeah, sx7r gets to do the bulk of it... You'd think that if he has the patience to build his own turbo kit, that he could lay off my poor poor car for a tad while i got my J&S done.... Oh the pain....

Sorry about the engine Turbomax.

I asked because 2 posts up someone placed a link that has a complete rebuild kit minus the Connecting rods. I didn't start a new thread because I didn't think it was nessesary to clog up the main thread board with such a rudimentary question. All I asked for was a simple name or site, not a Quid-pro-Quo argument.

By the way turbomax97, I would kick my friend in the nuts!

That's why I don't let anybody drive my car...My friends ask if they can, but I always tell them no, because I've seen the way they drive with their cars N/A..The only people I let drive my car are experienced people who knows how to drive a turbo'd car.

Sorry to hear about your motor Joffe, Now make Thomas work overtime to get your car running. Did you got the J&S hook up while your motor blew?
