A32 ECU, Z32 MAF, 550 inj and 10psi results

It is a success!

Well, kinda. Only saw a little over 7psi but results were good.

Just to review. Stock ECU, Z32 MAF, DeatschWerks 550cc injectors, and SAFC-II with a 10psi wastegate spring.

AFR's at idle were steady right at 14.7

AF ratio was between 10:1-10.5:1 across the board. No signs of going lean. No detonation detected and 0 knock reading via my SAFC-II. Took out 7% fuel with the SAFC from 4K to 6.6K. Did not see the AFR's come up much with the 7% correction, but did not want to start correcting too much because of timing advance. Got an MAF voltage reading of 63% IIRC

So yhea, it is on the rich side. But I am also at 45psi base fuel pressure. Using an adjustable FPR and bringing it down to 35ish should put me close to an 11:1 AFR. Don't want to go much leaner than that on stock timing.

Also did some pulls with the 5psi spring and AFR's were just about the same low 10's across the board. The came up a little bit with the extra boost.

Put the JWT ECU in for a few pulls. Still idles like crap....(Got a bunch of info on that situation which I will save for another thread)

With the JWT ECU AFR's were steady at 11.5:1 across the board. About the only good thing I have seen with this "modified" ECU so far.

I was only getting 7psi from the 10psi spring. Must have a boost leak, will go through and tighten all the T-bolts today and do some more pulls.

Big thanks to Neal for comming down with his wide band.

Great news especially for me considering Im basically running the same setup with 615's and SC'ed. I had my base FP at 42psi and had no problem starting the car except when it was warm already trying to crank it less than 30 mins after shut off. I backed it down to around 37-38psi and dont have the problem at all anymore.

I was thinking about hitting the dyno just to make sure but this makes me feel a little easier about driving my car around in its current state. One thing I've got to do is figure out where I have a leak since Im still showing only -14-15hg's at idle.

Thanks for the info.

Im also starting to contemplate on just asking for a raised rev limit and doing all the timing and a/f tuning with the emanage. Decisions decisions.

nice to hear about the pulls.

the 7psi might be from the 2.5" exhaust.

Way to go Mike. So much for keeping it simple, right? You gonna keep it at 10 psi?

I thought about doing something like that too. Asking for a complete stock program except the raised rev cut and 2-3 degrees less of timing after 3.5K rpms. But it is BS I should have to pay $600 for a raised rev limiter. From the info I got with a consult yesterday it is indeed their program.

emanage blue units are around $300 now and you can sell your safc for around $200, but I agree that it is total BS to spend $1k on engine management for a fuel cut and piggybacks.

It is 3" all the way through the cat, then a 2.5" catback. I agree that it is a restriction but it is not gonna hold me back 2-3psi I don't think. Tonight or tomorrow I will open my 3" cut out and see what happens.

Dont get the blue..you will have to deal with the diods at each coil pack so they dont fry.

Run your setup how you have it now, and wait for someone to buy and try the Emanage Ultimate...
Im going to buy an LM-1 thats compatable with the EU, put that in, then hopefully someone will figure out if the EU can be used on the VQ30..

The Ultimate should be a very nice unit with raised rev limit

Bring ear plugs......trust me. The first time I opened mine it really hurt my ears. Hopefully the turbo will quiet it down some...

He's been on the losing end of my car with no exhaust whatsoever so he is probably used to it

Went out tonight with the cut out open. Saw 9psi, I got to be well into the 300hp range now.

It is loud, but nothing terrible. Was next to a cop a few times and they didn't give me any trouble.

Saw a peak of 70% MAF voltage via my SAFC. Anybody near that % on a Z32 MAF and know what power they were making? Just curious.

I know that I won't get 10 psi exactly from my 10lb spring. But isn't 7.5 psi with exhaust attached and 9 psi with the cut out open really low? I have reinstalled the waste gate after putting in the new spring to make sure I didn't have a leak and that is not the problem. Anything esle that would cause me not to see full boost or am I just expecting too much from just using the spring and not a boost controller.

are your wastegate and boost gauge reference lines hooked into the same place or is one before and one after the intercooler
