well, i just got my sc in. im def happy with the results. shes got considerably more power and im just running the 7psi pulley. next year ill drop another grand or so into it, get some injectors, emanage, and an 11 psi pulley or mabye the 13, then i want to put in a small shot of nitrous later on to boost it up to 350 hopefully someday. i know a turbo allows for far more power, but im pretty happy with my plans, and it didnt break my budjet like a custom turbo kit would have...plus the install time is quicker.

Since we're on this subject, how much boost do you think it would take to get a 3.5 up to 380-400whp (keeping the engine stock, non-forged)?

I say no more then 9-10 PSI. You must ensure you have proper fuel mixture.

JC claw to get your 3.5 I d say no more then 5-8 PSI to get to 350WHP. You are already at what 220plus? But I am more then sure 6-7 should do it. Assumption you have a alloy flywheel and that UDP, light wheels it will help you get there faster. I was at 9.7PSI putting down 353WHP and 338 ft lbs of torque. Eric put down close to 400WHP at 11 or 12PSI and thats just a regular 3.0VQ.

220-ish no tuning. I think I can get 250whp out of it N/A before cams.

What is the real-life torque differential between turbo and super like? Would some of the mechanics of the car need work as well to handle the extra torque?

10 PSI SCer tuned 260 torque thats with a quiafe. 9.7 PSI turbo tuned 3 inch exhaust w/a quaife 338 ft lbs of torque. Turbo boost over 14 PSI is going to break your tranny. Our cars can handle 13PSI from a turbo, just better be tuned and have a LSD tranny to transfer some of that power to other wheel.

Maybe me and you need to get together and see about installing a turbo on that car. We got two .org members that know how to weld. After conversating with one member he said a Turbo can be had for under 2K. Yes Neal was right if you do your own welding and your own fitting you can get turboed for under 2K. I already have alot of components to transfer over back to a turbo set up. Preferably non ballbearing t4/to4E.

Welding is not much of a problem for me, but bending is. Honestly though, I don't think this is going to happen anytime soon, but I'm keeping this as a possiblity.

we can buy bends from the number one place in Atl. The place Bijan use to work at. This guy sources pipes to turbos.com and other places. This guy is the only one in Atl with a mandrel bending machine. You need but a couple of 2.5 bends and like 2-3 3 inch mandrel bends and that will be about it.

You certainly don't need all that stuff you quoted in the turbo pricing to get just 350whp. And there's always a possibility of you getting a used turbo kit for less than the cost of a new PFI kit, or making a kit yourself (not one of the janky POS $1000 hack jobs but a nice, DIY kit).

Lookin for 350whp and 350tq out of an SC is just not gonna happen easily. 350hp can happen but most of the guys who have gotten 350hp out of an SC are guys who have put ALOT more money into the kit that the SC price quote your put up there, and they still aren't making 350tq. You don't need a $600 boost controller, you need a $15 wastegate spring. You don't need a $900 3" exhaust, you could use a regular 2.5" catback and a $50 cutout, etc.

The cost of NA vs SC vs Turbo is algebra. Turbo costs more initially but at some point, making X amount of power on turbo costs less than making it with SC, which in turn is less than making it with NA. 350whp is not difficult with a turbo kit, but it is the extreme upper limit of what 3.0 guys are getting with FULLY decked out SC kits.

My question to styles would be are you still planning on a 3.5 or built 3.5 or just sticking with the 3.0. Because you don't need a built 3.5 if 350-400hp is all you are gonna run.

BTW all the HP numbers I was giving you earlier stylez, the 260whp on 6psi, etc, those were all 3.0 numbers, sorry for confusing you. The 3.5 numbers will be much higher obviously as we discussed in PM.

Neal after blowing my motor and looking at other options. I owe you an apology. "THIS MAN STANDS CORRECT!!!! YOU CAN BUILD YOUR OWN TURBO KIT FOR UNDER $2100.00. That will include everything you need to get the car up and running. After talking to .org member that rebuilt his own turbo kit. He said it can be done for under $2K. He explained why and how. I honestly do not know exactly the price of a new used non ballbearing t4/to4e turbo. Preferably Garrett, why Garret? Because that is the type of turbo in my 2000 Ford F250 and its not blown. If Ford uses Garrett on one of their best Heavy duty trucks it must be a hell of a good turbo. I believe is the same name brand turbo Neal has in that car he just purchased. I would stay away from turbonetics. Their customer service blows!!!!!!! Unless you have a shop backing you chances of you getting your rig rebuilt are slim. Took me 2 weeks to get my Vortech rebuilt and shipped. Took me over 6 weeks w/turbonetics. It was a good Ballbearing turbo for the spool.
