Mounting reverse y pipe
Anyone running a reverse y pipe how and where did you hang the feed pipe? Ive just spent all day trying to hang mine, but the only thing that i have accomplished was skinning my elbows and cutting my hand up. Very fusterated.

what do you have the PFI kit? If its not then it has these metal hangers and you secure the feed pipe and the Downpipe almost right next to each other. What rubs on this reverse y pipe set up is the downpipe at the bottom. Thats the part that usually rubs coming out of steep drive ways or curbs. Also since the flex section of the downpipe is over 3 inch diameter that may rub too if you do not secure it properly. Pushing the feedpipe up to high and it may rub the rear of the transmission making it hard to shift the 5 speed manual. So you cant shove it all the way up in there.

This pic shows the hanger welded to the feed pipe, it is comming off the back of feed pipe in the pic. The original design was to use that post, in additioin to a post welded in the engine bay, and a rubber hanger to support the feed pipe. Just like our exhaust hangers for the muffler

These pics kinda show what I used instead. See the turbo flange? See the stock battery tray hole? They happend to line up almost perfect for me. So what I did was use an extra long bolt on the corner of that flange and ran it through the turbo flang hole, feed pipe flang hole, then through the battery tray hole with the bolt on the underside of the battery tray. Securing the feed pipe to the battery tray.

Before I redid my feed pipe and down pipe I ended up ripping away that mouting location when I banged the feed pipe going over some railroad tracks. It ripped apart the battery tray hole.
I now have it remounted in a similar fashion using the other battery tray bolt hole, but reinforced with some 1/8" steel plates, and my feed pipe and down pipe were redone with 3" oval SS piping under the tranny to increase ground clearance. I hardly ever scrape anymore and don't have to drive so carefully.
I don't have a PFI kit, but a custom one with a similar design
