Choice on oil w/ supercharger

I was talking to a mechanic at a local performance shop the other day and we were talking about oil myths. Now my understanding has always been that you can run non-synthetic oil w/ a supercharger, but you would have to change it more often. He proceeded to tell me that they have been to several oil seminars and there findings are that while there are certain brands that are better than others, but non-synthetic provides just as good as protection as full synth does just in a shorter term. any opinions?

I ask because i feel like i am pi$$ing money away on full synthetic when i hardly ever even get into boost since i drive like a old man(car is to low to the ground. So in my case would it be safe to run non-synth?

Correct me if im wrong, but I was under the impression that once you switch to synthetic that you can't go back?

If its not true then I would start running blends on oil changes for a month or two before going back to regular. Good looking car btw~

with the high heat of boost Superchargers/Turbos its better to run synthetic oils as they break down less than comparable non synthetic oils, on a N/A car unless it is built regular oil is not a bad choice...

I run synthetic, it helps me sleep better at night

You need to use synthetic. You spent thousands of dollars on rims, but you complain about $20 on oil.

If you guys did not know a oil cooler helps out alot. You can change out your oil around 4K using synthetic oil. Dont have to take my word for it. Just buy a oil cooler and send a sample in. After your first oil change.

If you have a Ballbearing turbo dont dare to put cheap regular oil in there. If its under warranty and the seals may go bad and turbonetics may not even want to honor the warranty because you were suppose to use a good synthetic oil.

Chris in Louisiana it is very hot. Id use a oil cooler from the first day you bolted that blower on there. Dont know why you have not done so?

If you put synthetic there is nothing that says you cant go back to convential oil and back to synthetic.

All the oils myths and things are highly opinioned. Why else you think manufacturers have been upping the oil change intervals to almost 7500 on convential oil?
