hope someone can post up a item list of the components needed in addition to matty's starter kit. i haven't have time to get into it these few days, but when i come back, it'll be kinda late to ask.

so, can someone post here clearly the exact parts needed, part numbers, prices, where to get, etc,...

i will start to collect bits and pieces in about 2 weeks. hope something is already up before then. i read some of the stuff on the stickie, but i am still a little confused about the whole SC inventory because matty's kit has this and that, and i don't know what's really needed and what's not. Again, I'm new to FI-ing the max. So I hope someone can help identifying all addition parts info for a SC dummy like me. Thanks in advance...

That's the thing, I dont' really know what I need. But for now, I have ordered matty's starter kit. I know for sure, I'd need to get a blower. Then, I don't know where to go after that. Is this SC project more like "buy it as you go thing?" If that's the case, then I wouldn't like it so much. I did all the N/A mods available for my car already, and everytime I was onto doing some mods, I always would know exactly the parts needed and have everything ready before I even start. Supercharging is vague for me because all of a sudden, I just decided to go this route, and I'm too new to know much about the parts needed, size, price, and locations...

Slimer, please pm me about the parts you got going for your setup, I think I'll just follow your footsteps, hope you won't mind...Thanks.

Without sounding too forward, Matty I do think you have somewhat of an obligation to come up with a detailed list of what to buy and where to buy it. It sounds like Slimer is being very nice to help out those trying to get this together and same with chris (and I am more than happy to help as well) but ultimately there should be a comprehensive list of all the parts.

I am working on a complete list of all the parts needed, and where to purchase them as well. Prices too. Really isnt that entailed.

As for steve doing the good deed and helping me out, me and him have had an aggreement since day one of this project that he would do so. Thats why he posted pics up in the beginning and thats why he is helping out every day with parts details for guys in need. I talk to him almost every day on AIM and he knows I appreciate it.

well, i want to see things in a list form. if i just talk to you about this straight, there could be somethings missing here and there. you know, little things. So, that's why I am asking for a full list here so I can check off the things I got and go for the things I need.

Ok this is definately not perfect nor 100% correct, but I hope this at least gives everyone a rough idea of what is needed.

matty's starter kit
V1 or V2 blower (ccw rotation, staight discharge) + pulley of your choice + gates/goodyear belt
oil T-adapter for oil feed
ss 4' oil feed line + vortech oil squirter nozzle restrictor
nissan crankcase breather hose for oil return + 2 worm clamps
3" opening air filter RA-0980, is the stock stillen one I believe, + coupler and 2 t-bolt clamps
engine crankcase breather filter or oil catch can

charge pipe parts:
90 degree rubber/silicon bend
~20" length of 3" pipe + weld in a BOV flange
45 degree silicon bend
3" metal MAF adapter (cattman or frankencar)
6 t-bolt clamps
2 straight couplers
~90 degree upper bend into the TB (need to weld in a IACV bung)
BOV of your choice (Blitz SS, Bosch bypass, Vortech Race, etc...)

6+ feet of vacumn hose for BOV and FMU (the more the merrier) 5/32" diameter size - thanks Wizard!
a couple of vacumn T-adapters
2, ~5 foot length of power steering hose to relocate power steering lines

Vortech or Cartech FMU (6:1 or 8:1 disc for most running up to 10psi)
Fuel lines to hook up the FMU
Walbro 255HP fuel pump (part number GSS342 for 4th gens, ebay = 85 shipped)

extra coolant
4 or 5 quarts of synthetic oil recommended (I use 10w30 Mobil 1 synthetic)

and zip ties.

optional items:
air fuel controller (SAFC, or Greddy EU or similar) to fine tune a/f ratio
wideband a/f for real time air fuel monitoring
gauges (water temp, oil pressure, oil temp, boost)
new clutch for manuals, VB upgrade + tranny cooler for autos



This is a a rough parts list for a basic setup. Anyone please feel free to update it, modify or change it.

For starters... you'll need more than a few feet of vacuum hose. 6'+ is more like it. The vacuum hose is 5/32" diameter

 

Eric, I have all this stuff and did all the research to find the lowest prices. I was going to offer a kit, but don't have enough $$$ to make an inventory of whats involved, so I guess I'll give it away to people. Its fine. I know the problems that I had when I was first starting out and looked to some of the senior members of the FI forum for help.

I'm at work now and don't have the time to post all the places, but I'll try to get a list up tonight. All the prices together have the lowest prices, including the lowest shipping rates to Chicago. Since its in the middle of the country, it should be a mediocre gauge of how much actual shipping is going to cost.

ha no prob bro, i wasn't upset i just wanted to make sure you knew i will try to help w/ whatever i can. Deff use the list of nutts and bolts off of here, but as far as pulley, fuel delivery and supporting stuff, i got something up my sleve for the 3 of us

Can I use the 8.1 disk FMU if I am only going to be running 6 psi of boost at first? My plan is to just get the car up and running at 6 psi and then upgrade later on down the road.

I also assume that the vacuum t pieces need to be 5/32 a long with the 6 feet of line, right?

Whats up with the "vortech oil squirter nozzle restrictor"? Does that come on a new blower already, or do I need to buy that seperately?

 

yes you can, its what most people use. I'm going to have one FS for $80 soon if you want it.

They usually come in the blower, but if its not equipped then you need to get one.

 

yea the T will be 5/32 and can get the vacuum source off of the Stock fuel pressure regulator

If it doesnt come on the blower, youll need to purchase it from Vortech. This is a Major part of the blower. This sprays all the bearings and restrics all the oil to go pouring into the motor. Without this the blower will fail probably on start up of the car.

i've got a newb question. why do we need BOV on S/Ced Maximas? i know it has something to do with comp surges. i just never heard of this on other applications (mustang, camaro, trucks, ...). why don't they have comp surges???
