Started out with the dynomax super turbo muffler, and it sounded good...well besides the buzzing I was getting from the baffles on the inside of the muffler. Replaced it wih the same muffler and it did it again but went away around when I had the new one put in.

I had an Apix-i World Sport 3" put in. Its sounds ok but is kind of loud. I want something different. To me, its loud and doesnt sound all that good at WOT.

Should I chance it again with a Dynomax superturbo or what ?? All this muffler changing in and out is pi**ing me off big time

So get a friggin 3" boost driven cutout already. My god matty! 3" Ypipe to a 3" cutout, then stock 2.25 all the way back with a pretty exhaust tip. Control at what PSI you want the cutout to oopen with a cheap boost controller and you are set. What's better than OPEN 3" Y pipe when you stomp on it, and stock exhaust when you are cruising? Hell you can even run the boost controller for the cutout in cabin. I ordered mine monday it came yesterday. That's my advice. 3" exhaust are loud and make no sense anymore..

I agree...have a quiet 2.5" decent flow system and then the cutout for those special occasions.

However, you might try a Flowmaster...they aren't that expensive, flow pretty well, and yet tame a loud beast from what I've seen.

Dont the cutouts hang lower? Have you looked into flowmaster or magnaflow?

Ive already just spent a boat load of money for bends and piping and my resonator, all 3" mandral bent, to go ripping it all out to put a cutout in then buy all new 2 1/2" piping and do it all over again. I do not wanna do that.

Ive heard bad things about flowmaster. They are negative in the aspect of flowing ?? thats what ive heard.
Anyone hear anything about Borla mufflers ??
Ive had bad experiences with dynomax, but maybe the third time will be a charm.

This Apex-i 3" World Sport I thought would be good. The thing sounds good up until about 3500 and then its sounds like something it fri*in broken inside. How horrible of a sound that thing puts out.

i know i have the 2.5" and had it on for like 2 days. You get a metal poping sound around that rpm right?

Compared to a fart canister yeah, but for moderate noise with good flow, they are the perfect balance. The sound isn't for everyone though, so you need to listen to a few before you decide what is your flavor.

In that case i'm out of ideas also. Otherwise you can find another knucklehead that would buy that 3" catback locally and use that money in exchange for their stock piping. You're a good businessman, you KNOW money isn't really an issue here being that you can trade and swap parts to get what you want. After you try the Borla I don't know what else you are gonna do. You seem to really be avoiding that cutout though, lol. Good luck my friend.

Im probably just going to get the Dynomax again. To get a different muffler without knowing the sound is kind of a tossup. I figured the Apex-i would sound nice..lol...Im not a fan of the cutout because its always been a little "fake" to me. I like a true 3" if your gonna do it right

Ok, that's a much better explanation as to why you were avoiding the cutout, lol. I was confused there for a minute. BTW 3" cutout (since there is much shorter piping the exhaust has to flow through) Pwns full 3" exhaust, muahahahahaaa. LOL, ok that was my last cutout sales pitch. Just keep selling the old mufflers you don't like I guess? LOL. End of the year sale, you will have like 7 different 3" mufflers for sale.

Quote: then stock 2.25
Stock is not 2.25". I measured my b-pipe when I took it out and it was almost 2" exactly. I don't know where this 2.25" rumor started...

Busting your chops. You said when you measured the b pipe it was ALMOST exactly 2". So i'm thinking you measured it and got 2.25" that's why you said ALMOST exactly 2". Nevermind, lol.

Mine was actually LESS than 2". You had to look close to see that, though. Wizard, since you claim you have stock and it was 2.25" in several locations, I wonder if maybe they changed it after a certain year

You sure your not measuring the "Crimp Bends" ?? Its probably looks like 2" where the bends are, but on the straight away they are all 2.25" for sure

Nope, definitely not. Measured several places on only straight sections. According to my measurements, though, my stock y-pipe is indeed 2.25". The b-pipe is not, though. Go figure...
