Quick SC Belt question

I have a gatorback belt on my SC. I want one for the 2.87". Where can I pick one up? 3 Autozones didn't have it and I couldn't find it online. It is belt #K060703. I refuse to settle for just some generic belt or gates belt after the flawless performance of my gatorback . Thanks.

I got mine from Auto Zone,
Heres the info for the Gatorback belt.
2.87................4060690 6PK1755 69 "--69 3/4"
The part number you have is for the Gates belt.

According to post #7 in this thread, the number is different. (3.00 to 2.87 - K060703
)
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=291403

and post #3 in this thread...http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ght=belt+sizes

Ptatohed tried the number for the 2.87 in the sticky, and Autozone can't pull that number up.
In another thread I just found, it lists the numbers Flava lists. Moderator, please fix the info in the belt sticky....
Thanks Flava flav

I went to AutoZone, and gave them this part number 4060690 6PK1755 69 and they had it. That same part number was on the actual packaging as well.
I was told that belt will fit the 2.87 and the 3.0 pulley.
I currently have it on the 3.0

The part numbers listed are different because the 4060690 is the GoodYear gatorback part number, and the K060703 is the Gates part number.

Yup. Autozone carries Goodyear Gatorback. 4060690 is the belt I am using.

Another something to clarify:

Assuming the same SC pulley diameter, do V1 and V2 plates use the same belt lengths?

No, V1s and 2s do not use the same belt lengths from what I gather. I have a V2 plate and I just bought the gatorback 4060690 from an auto parts store. Using this on my 2.87. I should have no problems......I hope....

If that's the case, then you need the 6 rib 70.3" length belt. The 69.0" belt is the belt I am using for my V1 w/ 2.87. It might be a tight fit for you

Look at this link....http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ght=belt+sizes

Post #7 I thought the numbers were the same for Gates and Gatorback, only the "4" or the "K" in the front changes.

My understanding is that the "4" or "K" in front just tells you whether it's a Gates or Goodyear belt, but the belt lengths for a v1 plate and v2 plate are different.

"060" = 6-rib
"690" = 69.0 inches in length

The belts listed in the belt sticky are Gates belts for people with v2 plates.

The Goodyear belts for people with v1 plates are listed in this thread:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=455158

So if you want a Gates belt for a v1 plate w/2.87 pulley, then I'm sure you can ask for a K060690.

The part numbers are different.
If you go to Goodyears site, put in the Gates part number and search for it, it will give you the Gates part number for there belt in that size as well as the GoodYear part number for the gatorback belt.
http://www.goodyearbeltsandhose.com/...avdJU:uur6cg6k

By looking at the GoodYear site, it seems that
The K060703 Gates belt is the Gatorback 4060705, Gator Back metric part number 6PK1790

I tried searching the Gates site by GoodYears part number and got nothing.

Looks like we may need an update on belt sizes.

Werd, wut in the fawk is going on here? LOL. I got a damn Gatorback belt for my 2.87". It is the 4060690. Am I good or not? This is going on this weekend probably. V2 Plate.

There was no 69 3/4" belt length, so they gave me the 690.

Dammit. You might be right. Waiting for an official belt list for gatorback, and gates. I need to know if I need to exchange it or not. Someone let us know, V2 plate, GATORBACK BELT with 2.87" pulley. Why go gates if gatorback is better anyway?

If you have a gates number K060710 to get the goodyear #:

4060710

4 - Represents the same thing Gates' 'K' does (not sure what that is though)

06 - #of ribs

071 - Inches

0 - Tenths..

So, if you needed a K060703 for your 2.87" pully, you'd ask for a 4060703 goodyear gatorback belt.
It will be a tight fit. You need a 70.3" length belt, or something close to it like a 4060705 because Goodyear does not make a 4060703 belt.

NAPA (Gates) also has V-ribbed belts very similar to the Gatorback belt design.

V2 plate 2.87" pulley = Gatorback Belt #4060705

4060703 would be ideal, but they don't make them. Ok, thanks. Anyone confirming this?

Autozone can't pull up K060703 because that is a Gates part number. Ideally you'd be looking for a 4060703, but the closest thing Autozone/Goodyear carries is a 4060705.

I think i'm gonna be a man and take the damn thing off tonight. I'm so freaked out about snapping a bolt upon removal or something.

Don't worry about it. You will know exactly how much of a PITA the V2 plate can be. If you need a replacement bolt, just go to ACE and get the same grade/length/size bolt. As for the FHCS bolts, don't strip those.

The one that secures to the bottom of the plate/tensioner assembly sucks major ***. The small bolt is easier to get in if you can get the pulley off and have a gear wrench, which is the greatest set of tools that you can buy yourself (if you don't have them already.)

The NAPA one is not exactly like the Gatorback. You will lose a rib of one of those.

Actually I got the wrong belt at the track last April and have been running a 5-rib belt for over a year. Its actually kind of nice because if its misaligned, It has one pulley rib to jump so I can just loosen, fix and retighten if I notice a problem. I caught it doing that last fall. No problems since.

One thing that I can suggest is to invest in the ASP pullies. They do a great job staying in place. I just noticed that there is slight surface rust on it, but we had a salty winter.

Belt sizes for V2:

Gates (starts with K) Gator (starts with 4)
3.60 to 3.33 takes K060710 4060710
3.25 to 3.12 takes K060705 4060705
3.00 to 2.87 takes K060703 4060690

So the 3.0" to 2.87" belt size has a different number after the K/4??

Ok well I got it off . I know exactly what you were talking about there. But I got so lucky. The previous owner of the plate modified the plate for easy removal and installation. Take a look at the bottom hole where the bolt through the tensioner was supposed to go:

They grinded it down completely. I didn't have to loosen/remove the tensior bolts at all, the plate slips right over it. Never had any belt issues with this either. This plate was also grinded down so I could use a 2.87 pulley.

Anyway, this was my first time pulling my own blower/plate off. It took me about an hour. I was inspired by some of you guys to just go do it. Now, we need this V2/2.87" belt question answered. Tonight i'm slapping on the 2.87" and i'm using the gatorback 4060705. My fear of shredding belts is greatly reduced since I can change out belts in no time now. .

I guess i'll be the test dummy for the 4060705 v2, 2.87" combo? We have one 2.87" saying it'll work, where are the rest of the 2.87" v2 guys? I'll post up my results tonight. Or tomorrow morning.
