Clutch options with SC.... need help guys
Ok im going to just admit it. I don't know crap about clutches. This is the first manual i have owned (only for about 8k) and I have a trans. in mid rebuild w/ the need for a new clutch disk/pp/flywheel. I have an aluminum flywheel w/ and insert... i guess it has to be a fidanza and i can just buy a new insert. Does anyone else make a flywheel w/ a replaceable insert. If so, Any way to tell the difference between brands? Anyway, the main question... what are my clutch options with 3.6" V2 and bolt on's. I don't know my exact hp/tq numbers probably 340-350ish at flywheel...maybe a little more. What would be my options for ACT, Clutchnet, Spec ect. I need to order one ASAP and really need some advice. I don't know what is currently in my car (since i just got it. only description i have is that the pp is purple...really helpful) but my pedal is stiffer than hell. So having a stiff pedal is not that big of a deal. I appreciate the advice.
Sounds like you have a findanza flywheel. Does it have many small screws holding the friction surface on? You can get just a new insert directly from Findaza. IIRC it runs about $100.
And just my 2 cents. 3.6" pulley will put your hp more down in the 240- 260ish HP range I think. At 10psi ppl are putting down like 310-320whp/285ish tq. Just a thought so you know what power range you are likely to be in.
He said crank - So assuming 15% Drivetrain loss - that puts him at about 270-285 crank hp I would think.
But yeah - not even close to 350.
Anyway - Clutchnet Red PP with Clutchnet 6-puck sprung hub clutch. Only way to go.

Unless you are going to "race" the car at the track/strip... ACT is good.
Use the puck style if you can put up with the chatter and harsh engagement.
I'm running 3.12" on a V2 with an ACT and it holds the power fine... Mostly street driven and not track.

Well i ended up going with the ACT... NM1-XTSS. It seemed like a good choice for me. I didn't want to go with a 6 puck b/c of the harsh starting. I also got a new flywheel insert from summitracing.com for $52 plus shipping. So after 2 tranny bearings, tranny rebuild, new clutch, new flywheel, and who knows how much money later i will have my max back. Boy do i miss it. Should be up and ready to go by late next week.
What do you guys think about me rockin the 5th gen clutch for a while after I SC? Do you think it will instantly slip or can I go for a little while? It will be interesting to see what happens.

I had a hard time getting a 100% answer from the guy that the Yellow pressure plate currently being sold as a Red pressure plate a while back. I put in my Yellow p.p with a 6 puck sprung and I love it compared to my Spec Stage II. Its not broken in yet but there seems to be almost no chatter, its very daily drivable, its slightly stiffer then the Spec and has a more on-off feel which im fine with.
