You would need a built tranny. Level 10 and NRH build the auto trannies but from everything I've heard NRH transmissions in maryland are the only game in town when it comes to reliable high performance auto trannies for the maxima

i've 'heard' that you should get a VBmod(Valve body), trans cooler and high stall converter - I think the consensus is that nitrous/turbos dump to much power in one go so shorten lift of tranny considerably.

There are a few people who have made the auto last SCed (Chris'sMax and Latinmax are two examples) and Jime has put a lot of power with Nitrous on autos, but no one has had a turbo auto last very long at least in stock form.

VB and trans cooler would be very crucial if you wanted it to last, but you would probably have to end up building it.

Well, my stock VLSD automatic has handled 2 seasons of 125-shot runs, and a few 150-shots as well, and it's still working fine - so far. Frankly, my opinion is that it's cheaper to go-till-you-blow with automatics. A few hundred bucks each makes replacing easier to swallow.

I have always used Mobil1 and a good oil cooler - I still have the original non-VLSD tranny, which worked fine when I took it out and put in the Infiniti VLSD unit. (launches got much faster with BOTH tires pulling).

Just my 2-cents worth.

I went thru 3 factory trannies (except for the VB mod, tranny cooler & Amsoil) before I went with the NRH setup.
I kept on killing 3 and/or 4th gears from the boost.
Turbo will do the same damage as the SC. The tranny does not like shifting under boost.
The only way to go is with a built tranny. I have not heard many good things about Level 10, so I went with NRH.

Did you have to send your tranny to NRH or they already have ones built? How much did it cost you.

It runs around $2500-3000 and you have to send them your tranny.
