Supercharged/Turbocharged The increase in air/fuel pressure above atmospheric pressure in the intake system caused by the action of a supercharger or turbocharger attached to an engine.

Question.

So I have watched videos of turbo maxima and I have also talked with a guy that had a turbo max. He had a blow off valve BUT said something along the lines that it could not blow off because of a vacuum line and how it automatically took away built up pressure. As I watch the videos I also do not hear any BOV...am I just not listening hard enough or do our cars really not make any noise?

Sorry for the dumb *** pointless question.

Youll hear a BOV on a Turbo Maxima alot easier than on a Supercharged Maxima. It takes more RPMS to get the BOV to sing on a S/C.
All a BOV is a valve that is vaccum oriented. When you have vaccum it opens and when you apply boost pressure to it, it closes and the most boost you get the tighter is gets. At 6600, full boost, its really tight letting all the air into the motor, the second you close that throttle, the air needs to go somewhere. The motor goes to vaccum and the BOV opens and lets all the air out. Its there so you dont get compressor surge on your blower.

Bov

I did not use a BOV for 40,000miles on my turbo charged Maxima. I did have one drivability problem when i'd let off the gas it would send air back through the turbo and confuse the MAF. It would die if you didn't let the engine drag it's self back down till the air vented it's self out and went back the right direction. (compressor surge)
Now that I installed one a few wks ago its helped that problem and might have helped keep the turbine wheel speed up a little bit. I just got a cheap one from E-bay.. it was new but only cost 40.00 to my door.
You could watch my car on video but it's too quiet to hear anything. My car sounds totaly stock.
There are alot of local mustangs,Camaros,Nova, and your stupid Fart can Honda's that found out the hard way that it does not have to be loud to be fast!!!
I just tell them the motors stock with bolt on's. And it kinda is.. except the bolted on turbo.
