still need some advice on timing

this time im trying to figure out the timing and was told 2 different things. zero told me to set timing to about -7@peak power and work progressively down both sides. the guy at a shop told me to retard -1 degree for evry psi of boost at the rpm. so since my peak boost and power should be 15psi at almost redline do I retard -15 at redline and work progressively down backwards? it seems that the -7 degree timing retard is not enough as I still get detonation. well, I will try the -15 and work down tomorrow. any input would be helpful though with guys that use 2.62 pulley and emanage for timing.

Why dont you just dyno already so that you know exactly what the car is doing and work on tunning from there?

Whats going to happen, is that your going to blow your motor. Because you shouldnt be tuning without even knowing your A/F. You could probably be at 13.5 and not even know it or maybe even leaner, and your trying to mess around with the timing. Thats just asking for trouble. Stop doing anything, and dyno the car ASAP! before it blows up. drive normal for now till its tuned properly.

LOL, I agree. No more questions until you dyno! Post results man.

That's easy. Well sort of. I emailed every single authorized dealer I found on Innovate's website. I found these vendors to be the cheapest.

You don';t need the dyno to tell you how much timing you can run unless you're running race gas. On pump gas, you will always be limited by detonation threshold. You will not exceed MBT on pump gas, no way. Spend money on an accurate AFR measuring device and set your timing based on knock tendencies. It's probably a good idea to get a knock sensing device like knock lite to tell you when you're inducing detonation.
