more clutch/tranny problems

I first posted in this thread about my slipping clutchnet clutch. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=519264

This was supposed to be an easy PP swap job, and it has turned into a nightmare once again.
I ordered a ACT Xtreme pressure plate, and planned on re-using the clutchnet disk and replacing the fidanza flywheel insert. Well, I got the tranny out of the car tonight, and the disk looks trashed. It has chunks missing, and there are tons of cracks all over the surfaces. This clutch has only been installed for a few months. I haven't had it slip hard too many times, only at the track twice.

The flywheel and PP definately got hot.

I also have another problem with the driver side axle...has anyone seen this happen? The axle splines are twisted, but only at the end, it almost looks like the axle has slipped out some for this to happen. Not sure if I should re-use it or not...

I did get the new fidanza insert installed, it looks good.

Now the question is, what disk to get? I am not impressed with clutchnet's quality at all, but I could get another 6 puck sprung disk. I could get the ACT performance street disk which is rated at 449ft-lb, but may not handle the track or hard launching very well, but would be much better on the street. Or, I could get the ACT 6 puck sprung hub rated at 576ft-lb, which should hold well, but will of course chatter horribly and have a harsh engagement.

Everything that I heard was good about clutchnet. But, I am making less power than the clutch is rated for, and it slips. I contacted them, and since I purchased the clutch from them and bought the pressure plate from someone else (brand new un-used), they are not willing to help out.

Take some closer pictures of the disk pads and post them on something other than POS cardomain so we can see a close up, large pic. Metallic clutch wear pads never look very pretty after use even when they are still in fine shape, from what I can see in that small pic, it looks just like mine did last time I had it out.

I'd try out the ACT street disk first if you decide to get a new disk. And absolutely do not reuse that axle, it is trash. Never seen that happen before. I have a VLSD axle in the garage I won't be needing if you can't find one.

From the look of those pics it seems as if the entire puck surface being evenly clamped on your flywheel - that would definately cause premature clutch wear and also seriously degrade the torque capacity of your clutch. I had a clutch in the shop the other day (ACT 3200lb) that was doing that.

Got the car back running today. New axle, ACT Xtreme pressure plate and the ACT street disc. I emailed ACT back and forth, and the guy recommended the street disc instead of the puck for my application. This PP is definately stiff, actually the stiffest I have ever felt in a maxima. I am glad I went with the street disc, this thing clamps so hard it would be absolutely undriveable with a 6 puck clutch, and its nice to have a full face clutch again since the clutchnet 6 puck chattered so badly. It will take some getting used to driving and shifting, I am not used to the pedal being so stiff. I do like it so far, I will do a little break in and then get on it but I can already tell its not going to slip.
