Supercharged/Turbocharged The increase in air/fuel pressure above atmospheric pressure in the intake system caused by the action of a supercharger or turbocharger attached to an engine.

Anyone checked out the new AEM Fuel/Ignition controller yet?

Anyone checked out the new AEM Fuel/Ignition controller yet?

This came out a few months ago. Supposed to be able to control fuel and ignition retard. http://www.aempower.com/ViewCategory...CategoryID=116

From the website:
Works with latest OBD-II vehicles including variable valve control
VTEC controller based on Engine RPM and Load
Six (6) injector inputs with simulated injector load used when remapping OEM injectors
Six (6) fuel injector controllers for either remapping of ECU output (+/- 100% trim) or as a stand-alone extra injector driver
21x17 maps with configurable load and RPM breakpoints
Analog in / out for remapping / clamping MAF
F/IC draws power from PC USB interface for quick and easy calibration changes
64kb on-board data logger
Drives high impedence injectors or low impedence injectors with use of Peak & Hold Injector Driver Box
Three (3) channels of timing retard
Supports MAG or HALL sensor types
On board 41PSIA (approx. 25PSI boost) manifold pressure sensor
Windows-based Tuning Software

All for around $450. I've been thinking about doing the JWT thing, but this looks really promising. Anyone have experience with this system yet?

Never heard of it - seems to be along the exact same lines as the EB and EU. It's nice that it has a built in pressure sensor.

A few months ago, the "tuner dude" at the dyno shop that I go to was telling me that he could get this for me, and basically he was hailing it as God's tuning tool, lol. At the time I was all on timing advance and extending rev-limiter. He was telling me that yea it could work off any crank signal, it'll work on my car (this is sounding too familiar).

So I asked nismology to research it and (it was a quick conclusion, maybe others can chime in with their opinions), it seems that it could read it based on "predicting", basically Emanage Blue-style. So just like the EB, it could retard our timing, but to advance it it may not work more than a few degrees, and will most likely not be able to extend redline. This is HIS conclusion, I take his word because he knows more of these devices than I do.

Anybody else want to give their educated opinions?

Well I know from reading the AEM forums that this will NOT advance timing, retard only. They don't want it cutting in on there stand alone ECM.

This definitely cannot extend the rev limiter according to the description on the site (it's not mentioned at all) and it says that it can increase IPW up to 100%. this is the same way that EB works (even though EB is capped at 50%). In order to extend the rev limiter you need the ability to increase IPW directly (or by a huge percentage, like 1000% or more). at the rev limiter the IPW is cut back drastically (though they aren't completely shut off). there was a thread a few weeks ago that had the actual rev limit IPW, I think it was one of those threads about dandymax advancing timing with EB on that one guy's car.

Seems like the SMT6 since it uses the crank sensor for timing, but the SMT can advance timing as well.
