clutch suggestion for sc maxima

Replacing transmission and clutch in my 99 maxima. Makes about 300 whp and 276 tq. What clutch would you go with? Also have a barely used clutchnet, stage 2 it looks like, but the pressure plate has a little bit of rust as you can see from the pic, and the yellow pressure plate was my old one, act stage 1. do you think the clutchnet will be just fine? mounting to a new fidanza flywheel as well. I would like to save the moeny if the red clutchnet is probably good. thanks for your help!

and for fun, the bell housing broke on the inside! how this happened i have no idea. i wasn't even on it when this happened. the trans hiccupped and then i was losing all my fluids. i am wondering int he trans is okay and it needs new housing, it drove fine in 3rd 4th 5th and reverse, i couldn't move the shifter over into 1,2nd at all though.

Just my 2 cents

My act 1 held 180 whp 182 wtq N/A for 2 years & 322 tq/ 249 whp Nitrous(dyno jet) for almost a year.
Keep in mind I beat on this car everyday all day/ N/A & I would spray on the weekends. The passenger side axle went before the clutch, So I dont see there being a problem using the act 1 for your setup. Buuut

I would go with the clutchnet because I have a red 3x pp with the 6 puck spung disk & it grabs like a ****.
Just use sand paper or scotch brite & remove the surface rust in an circular motion (dont use air tool sanders).Goodluck.

Side note: Looks like the diff pin (keeps the spider gears together) may have backed out.

Deff new tranny time. I have a spec Stage 3 full clutch in my turbo car and it has held up to a years long of abuse. Not only on the track but repeated street abuse. it does chatter some but not alot. MOst people hate spec but i for one has never had a problem.

you'll be OK with that clutchnet I think.

can't quite tell from the pic but it looks like perhaps your cross shaft came out of the diff. seen it happen on occasion. whatever it is you need to open it up obviously and replace the bellhousing at least. holes in cases don't just magically appear.

Depends on what Clutchnet clutch you are talking about. That looks like the Fiber-carbon clutch in the picture, which I cannot recommend. I have one on my max currently, and while it is holding for now, I do not believe it is going to hold the power in the long run (it has already slipped a couple times). I am running a 3.25 pulley on a V-1 blower, and I will be changing clutches in the future. I think the clutch would be fine for NA applications, but it cannot hold the power when shifting, and I do not even powershift.

I am hoping that this clutchnet will be okay. I just do not feel like spending money, and as i know the rule of gotta pay to play, I would rather play and pray right now.. lol.

nealoc, do you think the transmission part is ok? I know its hard to say from interntet description and one picture.. I have a back up bell housing I can use, and open diff if need be... So is that what broke essentially was my diff?

Thanks for the input everyone...

I really couldn't tell you from just that pic. That's my gut instinct from the single pic, but I'd need more info to truly make an assessment.

in the pic of your trans with the hole in it, you see that circle thing inside the hole. probably 5/8" in diameter or so, that is the cross shaft in the diff. I've seen those back out and tear a hole in the case. I can't tell from the pic if that circle is an empty hole, or if the cross shaft is still in it's place inside there.

another thing that comes to mind as an obvious cause for that sort of damage is perhaps a broken spider gear or two. those are in the diff, and if one broke it's conceivable that it could have gotten spun around in there by the differential as your car was still moving and torn a hole in the case. that's a pretty big hole for something just "punching through" though. it looks more like something was spinning to me.

take some more pics, both farther away and closer in, from different angles. or just take the thing apart and find out, since you're gonna have to do that anyways heh. good luck.
