Cant you just get the lower Valence and some fogs? that would really hide it.

The way I have the piping ran the foglight won't fit on the drivings side

hmm... I have seen others run fogs with IC piping. I guess if you really wanted to add them you could change it.

You should paint the piping black for that sleeper look.

Well you can only see the one pipe which is already black and part of the intercooler. I may paint the intercooler black oneday but once I go into boost the turbo is loud anyways since I am not running a air filter

Did you get your turbo tuned to your liking yet? I know you had a bunch of problems before. You have a wideband?

funny you say that, I always confuse the two as well. dont know why. I think both of their build threads were started close to one another.

maybe, I read both entire threads to and for some reason like you, I confused them. That is funny.

Most likely cause we are both from philly, both had pearl white, 3.5 swap, turbo maxima's with a black stillen front lip. And yes we turbo'd the cars at the sametime it was part of the reason I painted my rims orange.

started installing the 3inch exhaust and took it for a spin without the muffler and it's sounds about the same as the 2.5inch exhaust which is a good sign that when I put the muffler on it will be nice and quiet.

I also took it for a drive a luv the sound it's alittle loud and wot but I like it reminds me of a 350z with a exhaust and testpipe's

I do a sound clip at idle with and without the muffler then some pic's

ok so I was driving the car today and boost is coming in faster and 3psi higher. I am going to play with the boost controller tonight and turn it down.

Question? I have read that when switching to a larger exhaust boost levels would go up but if my source for thw wg is the turbo shouldn't it stay the same?

Not really, the 3 inch is less restriction allowing the exhaust wheel to turn faster allowing higher boost. The wg will vent but you will go a bit higher than spring pressure. The bc could be set at 0 adjustment if you have a manual bc. On a 5lb spring it is normal for me to see 8-9lbs but I'm on a 2.5" exhaust.

What BC did you go with? electronic? I always wondered when the WG knew when to open. For example, lets say if you have a 6lb wg spring how can you boost over your wg pressure?

Same question, how can you boost over your WG pressure? wouldn't the WG open at 5 lb since thats whats the WG is set to open at? How are you getting up to 8 - 9 lbs on a 5lb WG? I never fully understood this.

See the thing is the boost is not spiking it's 3-4psi higher and rock solid, I just turned the boost back down just encase. FYI, I am running a 10psi wg spring but I wonder if it's safe to turn the boost back up those 3-4psi and just retune the car or just leave it alone and not work the turbo as much

I am using a manual bc, it's basicly a psi regulator that cuts off the boost source to the wg till a preset psi is reached

ok, so the boost controller determines the pre set pressure (what you set it for) and if you happen to spike past that or reach the preset pressure the WG will open. That right?

Correct, for example if you have a 10psi wg spring and a bc you can set the bc to 15psi and the wg will not see boost staying closed till 15psi is reached and then open.

Got it, thanks for clearing that up. I see most people going with a 6 to 8lb WG spring. Is that what is recommended?

I thought you guys knew but I found out by trial and error. Whatever spring you have doesn't mean boost stops there, that means the gate is fully open at that level but if you think about it, physically the wg opening cannot dump your total exhaust to keep the turbo at that set boost because it is physically smaller. That's one reaosn why I was wondering why people were getting 8 and 10lb springs when you will typically be going 3-4lbs over that. On any unbuilt application I would run a 5lb spring with a bc. That combination allows you to run a simple pressure but you can go higher than that with the bc anyway so an 8lb spring is not necessary. If you will be running 13 lbs consistently or more I would go with an 8lb but this is just my opinion, mine is just a dd and I don't track the car so I barely ever see double digit boost unless I turn up the bc **** when I want to have a little bit more fun. I first started with an 8lb spring but couldn't figure out why I kept hitting 11lbs. I even took the spring out to double check if I had an 8lb because I thought it wouldn't allow me to go over 8.

But like I said my wg psi doesn't spike above 10psi, if I am bored I'll make a vid but it reaches wg psi and holds steady. When I put the exhaust on it would go to like 13 and hold right there so I just turned the bc back down to 10psi. I use my bc to keep the wg fully closed till spring psi is reached also remember I have a 44mm wg and not a 38mm and running slightly higher boost levels than most so my wg is not open as long and is able to vent more exhaust

That doesn't make any sense, are you sure the WG was working properly. I don't see the WG being a safety device if it isn't doing what its designed to do. What make WG are you using?

The way I understand this is if your BC is set for say 12 psi and you boost up to that pressure or beyond that, your WG should bring you down to spring pressure. Am I missing something
here? Great video btw.

Ok, I'm beginning to sort this out. I have a mbc. The top port and the side port on the wg are both connected to the bc. If I only have the side port connected the car runs at spring pressure. When the top port is hooked up I get better boost response but it will go over spring pressure. The top port sees some pressure not allowing the spring to crack open the wg. I believe ebc use this method too but it is not well defined when using both ports on a mbc. Pretty much with mbc depending on the style you will see some spikes.

I see... makes a bit more sense, seems like you have a bit of tuning to do with your MBC. Are you planning on upgrading to the EBC? Check out the AEM Tru boost, thats a nice one. Most likely I will use that one with my Turbo setup.

I have the Tru Boost on my car and I love that thing. Controller and gauge all in one and it is very easy to get setup.

Ok, I am going to retest the car for boost leaks since I had to remove some intercooler piping to have a piece welded.

I figure everything should be fine on the end but I never checked the upper or lower intake manifold gaskets for leaks and was wondering about my nwp spacers.

Does anyone know up to what psi are they good too and what's the highest psi has someone pushed with spacers and not had a problem with leaks. I think in one of Aarons threads he said they were tested to 8psi but now I can not find it

OK, so I checked the car for boost leaks today and upper, lower and injectors were all fine but now the epoxy around the maf housing is leaking. WTF so I put some rtv and zip ties around it and hope this holds if not I am going to take it apart and either use jb or window weld

So it looks like no track till I solve this problem, boost leaks FTL
