MAF Issues - Sputtering/Bucking
I am basically trying to figure out what my problem could be here, any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been having a hesitation/sputtering/bucking issue that has been consistent since I have gone boosted. It is not rpm or load dependent, as it happens at 1500rpms at 2% throttle and 5000rpms at WOT. And it is random, sometimes the car pulls fine but mostly it hesitates.
I've swapped 3 different MAFs that have been in working condition and fine on non-boosted cars. I never had a problem with my old MAF before going boosted either.
I'm currently running a V2 blower with a 3.25 pulley (10psi), a Cartech adjustable FMU and a Walbro 255lph fuel pump. I was AFC tuned on a dynojet when I was N/A and haven't gotten a chance to jump on the dyno to get numbers or find a better AFR (I'm running pretty rich).
I don't think its a fuel related issue, the spark plugs are one step colder NGK coppers gapped according to spec (they were replaced when I installed the supercharger) and the coils appear to be fine too.
Is it necessary to upgrade to a larger MAF (ie, Z32)? Has anyone else had these issues before?
Thanks guys,
Matt

What makes you think it's the MAF? It doesn't sound like that's the issue.
My guess would be coilpacks. They can look fine, even test fine but can still be bad. Being that you have a '99, that's where I would start first.

Well the rear 3 have been changed out (as I have an 00vi swap). I could always get the front three and try swapping them, as I have never had any issues in the 75k miles i've driven the car. They all were replaced by the original owner IIRC though.

Have you pulled your plugs just to see what they look like? What are they gapped to?

Im having the same exact issue. I belive 036mtmax is having a similiar issue as well; i put my money on my coil packs. They may look good but for sure one or two could be bad. Ive had MAF issues before and this does not feel the same. My car has been N/A, SC, turbo and now back to NA and between my last month of running it turbo and now that feeling is still there. So I know its not that MAF. Has to be the coilpacks. Replace them all is what I would advise. Check all your plugs too. Im going to throw on a new set of plugs and coils soon. Ive just been too busy at work to deal with it and havent had time.

Hahaha I hear you. I drove my 2nd car for 2 weeks to avoid doing this crap. There is just not enough time to do everything that I want to do during the day.

Just wanted to update, I picked up 6 coilpacks at the junkyard today and plan on swapping them out and seeing if my issue gets any better within the next few days. Hopefully it'll do it.

I got a chance to test the coilpacks individually today, turns out that cylinder #4 was the one causing the hesitation/stuttering and its been running great since. Thanks for the advice guys.
