OK intercooler FINALLY came in today......its really nice and thick too. Now they can get to work on finishing all the turbo piping. They were also installing the powdercoated coolant pipes too....should have pics of that tomorrow:

Nice thick intercooler:

we are getting there!!!! I'll give them a couple of weeks from now....

ALSO here is a pic of a sick Turbo Supra they are working on too...fully built engine with PTE ball bearing turbo I think it was a 67xx sometime. I forgot what the guy said. The car belongs to one of the local police officers (yeh they like speed too). He is looking to make about 750whp with this setup!!

Was looking at the 350z forums and found this graph on a mid mount boosted performance turbo kit for the 350z (non-revup engine):

9psi (Wastegate), stock motor, stock intake plenum, nonrevup, w/ borla headers ap 3" single exhaust, Haltech and ID1000s. Turbo is a Billet Precision 6766, T4 divided turbine housing with a 1.0 a/r

Name: 350ztwinscrolldyno.jpg
Views: 916
Size: 141.7 KB

My turbo will be PTE Ball Bearing 6266 with .82 A/R (smaller than the 6766).....so should spool a little bit quicker and have pretty much the same type of curve. I believe the turbo size should be just fine.

Its not a problem why pay more to make extra piping when it's already there?

More updates.....getting there. Installing the intercooler now and also got pics of the coolant pipes installed. I also got more pics of the piping because they had the car on the lift:

Here are the coolant pipes:

OLD RUSTED UGLY COOLANT PIPES:

THE NEW STUFF!!!

They were mounting the intercooler and starting to weld the piping for the downpipe when I left....so they should be about finished soon. After they have everything welded up they are going to send the exhaust side off to get ceramic coated and they are going to polish the intake piping. Engine bay going to look really nice!!!

Went to the shop today and have some updates:

The intercooler is mounted

Intercooler came with these nice brackets which made it VERY easy to mount

Example of how hotside piping into intercooler will look. Going to have to drill a hole into one part of the front of the engine near the radiator

front bumper lower grill was cut out to make room for the intercooler to fit

view of the front bumper with lower grill cutout. Going to install some black mesh grill in place of the factory plastic lower grill to cover intercooler and make it hidden a little bit

fuse boxes relocated to make room for the turbo

speaking of turbo.....

view of engine bay from the top....gonna be so sexy when finished!!

view of exhaust pipe coming into turbo. Another bracket will be welded from the side of the from to the piping to hold it

Thats about it for today. I also changed my lugnuts from the silver ones to black to match the outside theme of silver and black. They are spline lug nuts with a key. I am going to sell the original silvers ones with the key if anyone wants them they can PM me. Here are how the black ones look.

When everything is finished still have to install and paint stillen front lip a satin black, tint all 4 windows 35% (20% too dark and dont want tickets from popo).

just wondering any reason you didn't go with a forward feedpipe and under the downpipe under the oil pan so you wouldn't have any ground clearance issues. Also how do they plan on running the dp with the current setup under the trans, over the trans or under the oil pan

I don't understand the first question. I know that they kept my cattman headers and y-pipe so that limited the way the piping is. If I just had the stock exhaust manifold it would have been done a different way. As for the DP they are going to run it down the opposite side of the transmission, the part that is raised up a bit and then connect it to the catback exhaust. I don't know if I answered your question or if you understand me?

I was browsing through the 350z forced induction forums and seen this 350z turbo kit for a NON-REV up VQ35DE made by S&R Performance:

TOTALLY STOCK engine, 6262 journal bearing V-band turbo with .82a/r, intercooler, etc.

This is what the kit did on ONLY 6.3psi (the kit comes with 7psi wastegate spring):

416WHP!!!! HOLY CRAP!!!! At 3000rpms almost making 300ft-lbs!! Dont look laggy to me!! Can't wait for my DYNO...JULY 2nd!!

Here is the same kit with STILLEN HEADERS and a more aggressive tune at 7psi:

456whp!!!! DAYUM!!!

I have to do some research on that. I thought they were the same.

EDIT UPDATE: I did the research and non-rev up 350z and 5.5Gen Maxima have same cams. 238in/240ex 9.5mm lift.

BIG UPDATE 6-30-12

OK....shop is down o last minute, which I dont like, but they are getting it done. They worked past their 2pm closing to 530pm finishing downpipe, wrapping and spraying it, and tac welding aluminum intake.....intake piping will be taken to a personal friend of the shop owner to weld and will be installed tomorrow....

now for the pics....

Downpipe (starts 3" from turbo exhaust then reduced to 2.5" for clearance under car):

Downpipe sprayed with high temp paint:

Downpipe wrapped with BLUE heatwrap:

Downpipe attached....

more pics...I had ordered some high heat straps to hold heatwrap but they were too small so I have to order some longer ones....in the meantime they used steel wire to hold it until the straps come in.........

Just a pic showing a YEAR later how JETHOT sterling silver high temp ceramic coating holds out!!! Even through salt and winter slush!!! Still shining!!!

FINAL ENGINE BAY PIC........(only need to weld intake piping, and BOV, also weld on wastegate and attach oil fittings....)

Tomorrow will have pics of the TOTALLY FINISHED PRODUCT!!!!

BTW....my tune is scheduled at RT TUNING, 635 West 3rd St, Lansdale, PA 19446 at 9AM Monday July 2, 2012 if anyone in the local area and want to see this beast being tuned you are more than welcome to come out!!

They should have made the dp in two parts encase you ever have to service the car without a lift. Nice to see they are doing what they can so you make the tuning appointment at rt

You right the feedpipe is also one piece from the ypipe all the way up to the turbo (not hard to take off) but wont happen if I have no lift because I will have no room to drop it from the bottom even jacking it up on jackstands.

Question did they mix and match stainless steel with mild steel, cause it looks like it. Also will you be wrapping the headers and feedpipe

I made this mistake on my down-pipe lol

And does the downpipe go from 3.5" to 3"?

Or does it go from 3" to 2.5"...it's hard to tell.

Either way it looks fresh.
