P7000 Pirelli

I just bought the P7000 215/45R17. I was wondering if anybody can give me a heads up on what I should need to expect over these tires. I live in hawaii so I don't have to worry about snow. I saw a lot of mix reviews in tirerack, what's the real truth about this?

Thanks...

that's an add size tire for 2k3. You should have at least gotten a 225/50/17. Any reason why you picked that tire size?

huh?

The guy in tirerack told me it was another option. I almost bought a 235/45/R17, which I was told was a mismatch for the stock 17 x 7 rims by the same guy. Did I get dooped by this deal? What do you mean odd? Will it fit or no?

well our stock tire size is 225/50/17. With your new tire size, there's over an inch difference in diameter of tires. Also, sidewall is about 6" smaller. I have no idea why they would offer you that size. Never heard of tireshop guy recommending smaller tire size. They usually want to go little wider.

If you get a flat with those tires on and you put your spare, your car will not be completely even. 1 inch might not be much difference but if you drive a while w/ your spare, other 3 tires will wear out unevenly.

Oh by the way, I would have gone with 235/45/17. It's lot closer to stock size than 215/45R17. If returning is a hassle, your current tires will work.

Your Crapenza's load rating were 93 and those undersized 215 are only 87. Go back and get a minimum load rating of 93! Safety alone should be grounds for a return/exchange. Otherwise, call a lawyer.

EDIT: That is assuming he's driving a 5th gen. For all I know he may be driving a 3rd gen, but his profile is pretty blank...

Thanks for the reminder. Forgot about the load rating. Znipte, return your current tires.

I haven't actually recieved the tires yet, cuz they haven't shipped it. So, I will give them a call asap and keep the 235/45/R17. By the way, I got a 2000 Max SE. Sorry for the little info, still new around here. I will post when the results come out, Thanks everyone for the info...

I finally spoke to the tirerack people. Here it is, I was told that the 235/45/R17 is too wide and can cause uneven wear on the tires. Especially the rim is only 17 x 7, the recommended was 17 x 7-9. So, this got me confused compare to what all of you had told me. Guess what, I believed all of you and went ahead and got it. I mean why should I believe a guy who probably just looks at computers for his facts, and not the actual experience. It will be here 3-5 days. They will ship it straight to the installers. Hope I get to use it before christmas. Anyway, hope everybody have a great xmas and a happy new year. Thanks everyone...
