Replacement tire opinions needed

Going to replace the Crapenza 92's that came stock. On my short list are:

Nitto Nt450
Falken Ziex ZE-512
Bridgestone Turanza Ls-V load94
and Kuhmo KH11's
(we all know I would like the Michelin Pilot Sport A/s, but no 1k to blow)

So I am asking anyone with experience for their opinion. Any other ones I should consider would be nice too. I have a 03 SE with 225/50/17 and hope to stay stock size. (love my alloy rims). Thanx.

Falken 512's....for a few reasons:
-Low road noise
-Comfortable ride
-Great dry grip, though a little softer than the RE92's...
-Outstanding start/stop wet grip, good wet cornering grip
-best performance-type tire grip in the snow besides the Pilot A/S
-Cheap (just over $100 each)
-Tread and sidewalls look nice.

can someone tell me how they were able to get the Falkens for about 100 bucks each tire? I searched everywhere and cant find them for this price... I WANT THEM BAD!! Also how many miles can these falkens go? I know for the Blowtenzas its like 10000 miles, haha i even heard some people went up to 20000 too (lucky people)

Got mine at Sears for about 110 or so plus install...they don't carry them in-stock but are a distributor to order them....but I warn you, they are on backorder, so you will have to wait. My boy BB just got his after 2 months of waiting...Consumer reports just rated them real high so there is alot of demand now for a tire that wasn't previously very well known. they may cost more in the Boston area, though....not really sure

As to mileage, they supposedly are rated to 30K I think (i'll have to check tomorrow when it's light out), so I will probably get about 20 off them

I have 21,500 on mine and they still have "safe" tread on them. I'll get rid of them during next summer.

Investigate these, but I'm getting HTR+ in 235/45-17

Sumitomo HTR+

Yokohama AVS ES100

Sumitomo HTR Z II

Falken Ziex ZE512

Contiextremecontacts

Kuhmo's

Yeah I too will replace the RE92's. I was looking at Kuhmo's KH11 a few months ago. I heard they are ultimate summer tire. Since I live in FL I was planning on getting these. But reading recent posts alot of people like the Falkein 512's. Tough decision. How much the 512's going for. I can get Kuhmo's for 100. Anyone know the minimum tread depth to run on the RE92's? I still have a lil tread on the outside, wondering how much longer I could run these Potenza's and still be pretty safe. Don't want to spend too much after replacing the frigand O2 sensors in my '02 SE. Sensors should go more than 38k!!

Since you live in FLA and you get MAD t-storms every other day i would say ditch the blowtenzas ASAP.

I still have them on with 22,754 miles. Unless you do burn-outs evrytime, the stock tires will last I'd say 30-35k. As for handling well I don't know but I dont see a need to make get-away turns evrywhere I go so grip is not an issue. Plus i stay in SC so snow is not an issue

I was going to get the KH11s but a ton of people steered me away due to treadlife issues. I settled on the Falken 512, They are great, you won't regret this choice, but then again I havn't worn out enough tires to comment on owning the other options you listed

I guess that warrants a new question

Well, the consensus appears to be the Falkens.

Anyone who knows the wet side (west tampa area) of florida have any reason not to get them?

I used Nitto 555's. I chose them because of there wet/dry surface performance. I love them and will buy them next time as well.

According to Tire Rack they have a good wet traction rating.

If you are from FL and not have to worry about Snow, I would get the Nittos. Great dry/wet traction but bad bad snow traction.

what about BGF Traction T/A?

my in-law want me to get new tires(2) for my max. The reason why 2's my front tires tread were almost gone. The rear tires got around 10k miles left and will be replace it went i got $$$.
I been shopping and found a few tires under my budget. Douglas($62 wally-world brand), Kelly($75), BFG Control T/A($78), BFG TractionT/A($82) and Michelin ???($120)
I want good tires and especially on snowing day(lived in rural/country area).
He's into the BFG Traction T/A and I was wondering how good are them?
Talked to the tire salesman and he told me the Traction's newer than Control (60k miles) and it got better miles on it, 75k miles.

Thanks

Simon

I just put on a set of Falkent Ziex S/T Z-01s, in 225-50HR17

NTB matched the price that www.vulcantire.com had (including shipping) so they were about $117/tire.

I do realize they are H rated, not V, but they have a 50,000 mile treadlife warranty, where the 512s have a 30,000 mile warranty (and many V rated tires have NO warranty for treadlife) That made it an easier sell to She Who Must Be Obeyed (SWMBO) ;-)

Also, they were available immediately, and the 512s are tough to get right now. And they have a cool looking tread, too. Go to www.falkentire.com and take a look.

I've driven them in heavy rain, light snow, and dry pavement. I'm very happy with them. I swear they're stickier than the RE92s EVER were.
