Planning to get Sumitomo HTR+ tires for my car.
I've had them for over a year now. For the price their pretty d@mn good ($89.00 each at tirerack). As a matter of fact I have 2 more coming in to replace my fronts. I kinda slacked off and didn't rotate like I was supposed to so their shot. Had I stayed on top of things they would have lasted more than a year. The rears still look brand new.
Their good on dry pavement and just as good in rain. In the snow their steady as long as you maintain a responsible speed.
So far I've had the OEM's
and Falken FK451's. The Sumi's outperforms both.
I'm sure there are better tires out there but if you don't want to spend a grip of dough then you can't really go wrong with the Sumi's.
Just make sure your on top of rotating them as well as keeping track of the air pressure.

Thanks, yeah I think I will get them.
Dany,
These tires are amazingly good. They aren't the most expensive tire, but they do a damn good job in wet/snow, and are outstanding in dry/track conditions. They aren't noisy either. I love these tires, and coming from the oem's, well these tires are a definite kick in the a$$! If you go to the track often, you will love these tires, get ready for 2.1 and 2.2 60' times with these bad boys. They make them in non-proper load rating 225/45/17, or you can go with the 235 width, which I believe are proper load rating, and a wider footprint.
Get them, get them.

I was planning to get 235/45 size as it has proper load rating.
I had the HTR4+ tires on my 626 and they were great for both performance and ride comfort. The exact balance RE92s aim for but fail at. Unfortunately, I need the correct load bearing which prevents me from going 225-45-17 (of which there's a MUCH larger selection).
Anyway, I've decided to splurge and pay the $800 price of admission for a set of Michelin Pilox HX MXM4s (stock size).

I know there has been alot of discussions about running 235/45 on our stock 17" rims and
it seems that many people run them with no problems.
Thanks again for your help.
Before you buy these tires, check out the linked thread, in particular the post by Dave B. Apparently their is some type of problem with these tires that causes them to wear out prematurely.

Before you do that, check out my post (in the wheel and tire forum) about the new Turanza LS-Vs available now in the OEM 225/50 size.....I had the MXM4s and they suck.....noisy and poor grip. I got them at Sears and after more than $200 spent in various attempts at balancing them, they replaced them with the Michelin Pilot's A/Ss that just came off the car as well.
Check the Turanzas before you do the MXM4's!!!!

I have these tires.. they rock
they are on my stock 17s in 245/45/17 and are awesome in the rain, amazing in the dry.. and pretty damn good in snow..
best all season performance tire for the money, period.
i don't know anything about premature wear.. if they give me 2 years of use.. which is about 30-35k miles, i'm happy.. for the price, you can't go wrong..

I've got them, I have at least 36k+ on them and have been great. the fronts probably have about 35% left, i think it'll last thru summer. But like another member here, I got lazy rotating them where my back tires are still like 70% good. My wife drives the car mostly whose not as aggressive a driver as i am so that may explain the longer life plus i used light weight rims. For the money, they are the best, outstanding grip, even wear, relatively quiet. the Michilens pilots are probably better but they're like double the price.

Maybe the tire size is the problem. I was expecting reduced life from my 225/50's, but this is looking to be ridiculous.
I retract my previous statement.......
I obviously haven't been paying attention, but I have gross uneven wear on the tires. Inside tread is just about at the wear bars, outside tread looks like it's almost 2x that amount (give or take). as much as i like the grip of the tires, guess who may be going back to 225/50 on some falkens?
