5 star Stock wheels
First I apologize for starting a new thread. I would much prefer if the search function were working. Would be much neater board..though I love and appreaciate this board.
Anyway,
Any recommedations for cleaning the stock 5 star rims? Mine are also showing some corrosion(blackish spots) on the inside of the spokes. Should these be sanded and repainted? I am clueless on what to do with them. Also the center of the wheel contains a plastic ring with a nissan emblem on it. The finish on mine are coming off and showing the light tan plastic. What is the proper paint color to match this? I was in Autozone today and did not realize how many different silver paint varieties there were.
Thanks in advance.

I used Dupli-Color Silver high performance wheel coating on my center caps and the match is almost dead on. With is paint I'd say you could sand off the corrosion and repaint it very nicely. The wheels are painted from the factory so painting them is not an issue, just doing a good job on the sanding is. Its available at Autozone, Napa, Wal-Mart......almost everywhere.

The "black spots" is most likely not corrosion, but brake dust left over from infrequent or incomplete cleaning. If you're lucky it will come off with some wheel cleaner and a soft brush or sponge (wear gloves, follow directions) but if you're unlucky then it's etched into the surface and you should try a mild or moderate strength paint polish on it next.
