About 4 months ago, I replaced the OEM tires with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S (17" stock rim, tire size: 225/50-17). The tires were bought and installed at Costco.
The problem is when I take a turn (either right or left), I hear a loud "thumping" noise coming from the front tires. The noise does not occur when moving forward. I looked for uneven tread wear on the tires and found nothing unusual. I looked at the inside wheelwell and also found nothing noteworthy.

Has anyone experienced this problem?

are they mounted correctly? pretty obvious, but check the tread position, as they are directional tires.

It sounds like your CV shaft, not the tyres.

Since the tires were installed, it has been making the noise. I'm thinking of taking it back to Costco, but leary about doing it b/c they just install tires. Could they diagnose problems and correct them ???

Well, if your car started making noise right after you got your new tires, I'm thinking you got bad set of tires. I would say take your car back to Cosco and complain. Least they can do is give you new set of tires.

DaveNJ01, how much did you pay for the entire 4 sets plus mounting and tax at Costco?

I paid $890.00 minus a rebate. I can't remember the rebate amount.

Costco said it's possible the tires need to be rebalanced. I'm going there today to have them inspect......

1.5 hours later, the tires were rebalanced and rotated. The problems seems to be resolved, but I need to drive it around more turns to make sure it completely gone.

Cost = $0.00 + 1 dinged rim by service tech guy :-(

I have the same tires and have noticed the car tramlining (drifting) to the right on the road. Steering wheel is centered and alignemtn is done to factory specs. Wondering if you have noticed the same problem with the tires?

I have not noticed the tramlining problem.

I would say the "thumping" noise is 95% fixed b/c I faintly heard it today. (Unless the noise has been permanently etched into my memory after 4 months!!)

Also, the road conditions here in Northern NJ are horrible after a harsh winter. There's potholes and uneven pavement on most local roads. By hiting a few potholes, may have damaged the tires and/or rims.....but I'm guessing

After I replace the ignition coils, the Maxima will be almost problem-free!!

I've been noticing the same thing....but mine will got to the right AND the left. Everything will be fine, then all of a sudden....the front wheels will shift me over to one direction. I feel like I'm fighting it sometimes.

Is it a tire pressure issue? My alignment is perfect, and the tires were put on by NTB...they look fine.

What PSI should I have in them? I think I'm at 41 right now. Is that too high/too low?

I would go with 35psi all around. 41psi is a little high.

Anyone else have a review of these tires? I'm at 27k, so I should be due in another 5k to 10k...looking forward to the Michellins.

Well, sad to say the thumping noise returned. I guess I could continue to drive the car, but the noise is bothersome. The noise happens when driving in a straight line, in addition to going around turns (as stated in my original post).

Would you take to the dealer for analysis?

Comment about CostCo: they're the best tire shop I kno of right now. I've visited a few shops, including a very .org popular shop, and none have treated my rims better than CostCo. I've never had a scratch from them, they handled my rims with car, and never used an air-tool. In addition, they cleaned my rims inside and out before re-installing.

I'd say have your dealership look at your situation. I was gonna say alignment... but u already addressed that. Good luck.
