Looking for advise on new tires....

It's about time for new rubber and was just wondering if anyone could suggest a good tire for my '02 Max. I have stock wheels. I am NOT looking for performance. 99% of my drive is in a straight line at 75mph. Comfort is my main concern and all-weather function too. Any suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks

Look in the Tire section of the forum. The Falken Ziex 512's are the best price/performance tire available. Great in Dry, Wet and Snow and spirited driving all for about $109 a tire shipped. The Bridgestone Turanza's are another fantastic tire, but your probably looking around the $175 range shipped. You won't find the Falken's available at anyplace but Sears for the time being as Sears bought up their entire stock. It'll take about a month or so for them to reach other manufacturers. Sears will usually match online prices, but charge you an extra $10 a tire for installation. Sears sold me the tires for $115 + $14.99 balancing. Not bad at all.

Another vote for 512s. Great all season tires for its value.

I agree with Virus - Falken 512 is good $$, great in the rain, and a nice ride. Softer sidewalls than Pilot A/S and Potenzas so the ride is a little smoother. It does lean into corners a little more, but I don't mind.

Yeah they are on backorder at our local sears I hear.....

bridgestone potenza re950s offer similar qualities, but may be a little more expensive, but are excellent tires.

I don't know.....personally I think the falkens are not loud but not particularly quiet either. I thought my OEM RE92's were quiters - but those sucked in the rain....like driving on ice!

I have the tunes up loud all the time anyways, so don't really care how quiet the tire is though....

Continental PremierContact. You will have to get 225-55-17s. I've had them for a month and they are great on the highway. Free hazard protection too, plus if you are not happy with them they will switch you to another set of Continentals at no cost.

Anyone have any experience with the Kumho KH- 11s? i just put a set on less than 2 weeks ago, got over 500 miles on them with and quite a few of them were in rain. Much much better than the old RE92s, i couldnt believe they even put them on the dam car, and they werent cheap either. So far i like the Kumhos, high speed stability feels improved, so does cornering response and such. The only drawback that i have noticed is that they seem to be prone to tramlining a bit more than the RE92s, but thats to be expected on the lousy south eastern pa roads. Otherwise, excelent tire and and excelent price, at least for the first 500 miles

Pretty much all other tires will be better in the rain, compared to RE92. I'm surprised the Kumho made your day, but I'd have sticked to Falken 512 if I were you.
