I just got a set of these: http://www.falkentire.com/tires/512_infopg.htm

Falken Ziex ZE512s

Haven't had them long, only a few thousand miles, but so far I like them a lot. The sidewalls could be a little stiffer, but in the rain they have proved to be great, with good dry traction also. I even got the chance to try them in some moderate snow and they held up nice. Great price too.

edit: oh, and I just realized, tire forum

Firestone Firehawk SZ50EP

Excellent rain traction and hydroplaning resistance... very sticky tires... so the wear is kind of quick under aggressive driving.

However I do have a friend who has the same tires on his 2k2 and he has had them on for 30K and has over 80% tread left.

Not the cheapest tires though...

On my stock wheels I had Bridgestone Potenza RE950s and they had amazing dry and wet traction. Pretty good in snow too. They lasted nearly 50k.

Dunlop SP Sport9000. They have AMAZING rain traction...lateral grip, braking are outstanding. No hydroplaning, they just cut through puddles at highway speeds. Dry traction is decent

Go to www.tirerack.com for some reviews

Those are pretty good, but the Falken Azenis Rs are even better, IMO. They have excellent traction wet/dry, just as long as it is not standing water. In standing water, tires are pretty much all the same....crappy.

The ones I mentioned also have a very stiff sidewall. They are about as close to a racing compound you can get on a street tire. Check to see if they make it is the tire size you need.
