Centerbore
Centerbore
what is the size of our centerbores? if a wheel has a bigger center then the car has is that a problem? or should you consider getting hubcentric rings? where is a good place to purchase hubcentric rings
Thanks
Thanks
Stevay,
It is ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS better to have your rims centered by the hub vs the wheel studs. If you have to get hubcentric rings to accomplish this because of a generic or larger hub bore then get them. If you choose to not use hubcentric rings or the correct bore rims, at the very least you need to center the rims as via the conical lug nuts. To do this properly will most likely take two people. First, get the wheel off the ground. Upon placing the wheel over the lugs HAND tighten each lug in a criss-crosing star pattern. Then torque each lug with a torque wrench (where second person holds tire). If you don't have a torque wrench buy one!! They are $10 from Harbor Freight. No excuse!

Then place wheel on the ground. This procedure worked for me for 5 years before I finally purchased hubcentric rings for my Integra. The rings are usually sold by any tire company for about $8-$10/ring. I would NOT recommend this procedure if you plan on doing any type of autocrossing or racing!!
