im goin crazy here reading reviews.. anyway, i have a 96 with h&r's.. ive gone though too many sets of 18's now with 235, and 245/40/18 tires on them. the streets of nyc are harsh and ive bent too many rims.. so id like to go up to a 45 series if they will fit without rubbing. also, i am contemplating on buying a set of 18 murano rims since they look decent, and are pretty cheap. does anyone know if ill have any problems with this set up?

more importantly, what is the best 45 series tire for this set up? (if i can even use them).. i mean in terms of ride, comfort, rim protection, noise, and and overall handling in differnt weather? i've had toyo proxies, i dont feel they offered much rim protection at all. i have nitto's now, and are pretty good rim protectors, but id like to see if there something like them that are a little more quiet.

i dont mean to offend anyone, but id rather get a response from someone whos experienced a few different kinds first hand. im thinking of mabye getting a set goodyear eagle f-1's, or something along those lines.. but there kinda of on the expensive side. id rather not call it quits and just get some 17's, but if i have no other option i will.. thanks in advance

 

other tires im looking at, Falken Azentis St115's, Nitto NT555's, Goodyear Eagle F-1's, BFGoodrich G-force. i know the first 3 have rim protection sidewalls, i dont know about the bfgoodrich. the falken's are suppose to be very quiet too.. any thoughts?

I dont know if you would be interested but I have a set of 245/45/18 hankook ventus sport k104 tires for sale. They are a great tire, quiet and handle great i n wet/dry weather. 2 of them have about 50% tread and the other 2 have about 30%. I am only looking for 100 plus shipping if you would like to put them on your car to see if you like that size tire. Let me know

45 series on an 18 inch wheel will give you rubbing when turning, especially since you are dropped on h&r's. i know it's not a real huge drop but trust me you will get rubbing. a buddy of mine had 245/45 18 on his 97 i30 and it would rub up front when turning and rub in the back when dipping over bumps! plus he wasn't even lowered at all, still stock suspension! i was actually kind of shocked with the huge wheel gap that the 4gen max/ i30's have for those years! good luck if you go with a 45 series though! imo i would suggest no bigger that 245/40 for an 18 inch tire- i know u mentioned u had bent a couple rims with the ny streets, but u just need to be careful when driving on these low pro's- i live in chicago and our streets are very bad - i have hit a few potholes so i know what you are goin thru- i have 18 inch wheels covered in nt 555's sized 245/40 and have had no problem with these tires- very strong rim support and sidewall! good luck bro!

 

Nittos are noisier than Falkens. Those 115s grip the road like no other. Nittos have stiffer sidewall though

 

This is not true. I ran a 245/45/18 on my car for a year and a half. Stock suspension no rubbing. I then lowered it on JIC's and had it down 2 inches lower, and still no rubbing although close. I took that size off because I wanted to go lower. But I know this size tire will handle a 2 inch drop on a 5th gen. maxima.

 

if you do a 45 series on an 18 inch wheel though, it's gonna make your 18 inch wheel appear as it were a 17inch, too much rubber around the rim and the rim will then look smaller than its actual size! good luck with runnin the 45 series, but i think a 40 series gives the rim more compliments and is more the appropriate tire size for an 18. but i can appreciate the fact that u would like to use more rubber because of potholes, but imo a 45 looks too fat on a 5gen/4gen max! but hey it's whatever you like- good luck!
