Thoughts on Nitto 555 tires?

What do you guys think of Nitto 555 tires?
Anyone who has had them, i have heard that they are a louder tire but handling how are they?
Cornering and overall drive?

Let me know what you think.

I'd like to know as well because it is one of the tires I'm considering when I go to 18's.

NT555s are great for dry conditions.

I had these in 245/35/19. Drove on them year round here in Seattle. They were pretty good in the dry, and not too bad in the rain either. Great value for the price. Current Dunlop SP9000's are the best I've had in the wet and dry, although much more expensive.

Stiff sidewall, noisy, good dry/wet traction, good tread life, forget about driving on snow.

i have the nt 555 in 245/40 18 and they are very good in dry/some what wet weather. by that i mean if you drive slow/ moderate in wet weather its ok, but if you like speeding in the rain, may want to consider another tire. awesome tread and sidewall - i have had them for about a yr and it doesnt even look like they are wearing on the tread. overall im very pleased with these tires, the only other tire i would consider besides the nt555 are the toyo proxes. good luck .

I've had good experiences with my Nitto 555s in 245/40/18... I will buy them again. Great dry traction, good wet traction, good tread life, death traps in the snow.

Actually, it's a really soft sidewall. Noise is no worse than average for a high performance tire.

WTF!!! I hate my Nittos. First day with them, wet traction was a joke. Dry traction is not that great either (I couldn't spin the Craptenzas at the top of 2nd like these). Ride has been quiet, that is until I rotated them. Now I have a thumping sound up front. As the tread wore down, torque steer became a serious problem. Brand new, straight line pulls were easy. At half tread, the car would dart all over the place. They are some of the ugliest tires I have ever seen. The big lugs on the outside look like they would shed water great. Nope, these thing hydroplane easily.

The only good things I can say is that they have been as comfortable and quiet as the Craptenza.

I usually do lots of research before buying anything more than $100. I had the Pirelli PZero Nero M&S picked out for their price and excellent reviews, but at the last minute had a friend convince me to get the Nittos.

Comparing to tires I've owned (Falken, Bridstone, Dunlop, Goodyear), had stiffest sidewall. My Falken 115s were sooooo much quieter and stickier than 555s. Treadlife wasn't as good though.

i love my 555s. good value compared to the michelin pilot a/s i had previously. the only thing i notice between the two is decreased wet traction but it is still very acceptable. i rotate about every 7500 and ive got over 20k on them now with about 8-10k left on them. i plan on purchasing them again when its time in 245/45/17. i have no issues with higher than normal tire noise. i drove on icy roads once which will not be repeated again.
