The 5th gen SE 17's came stock with 225/50/17. It is a more appropriate size for a 17x7 rim than 235/45/17...though the 225's are harder to find.
This is my dilemma. I saw that the SE models come with 225/50/17, but I also saw the speedometer is closer with the 235/45/17 compared to my stock 215/55/16 size. Though, I guess the speedometer isn't off THAT much with the 225/50/17 compared to the stock 215/55/16.Originally Posted by irish44j

So, you're saying the 235 width is too wide for a 7" wide rim?
I'm now wondering if 215/50/17 wouldn't be better and closer to stock?
Thanks for the input.

It is technically, but depending on the type of tire depends how much you can push those limits. I know a lot of mustang guys with 6 or 6.5 in width rims and 225 width tires.
Which always shocks me cause I have 7.5in rims and 235s are supposed to be 10mm oversize even for them.

Now, I'm wondering if I shouldn't just stick with the stock wheels and sell the G35 wheels.

I'd keep the G wheels! I'm fairly sure that chart is mostly a general guide. You should be able to check out the approved rim widths for your specific tire from either the manufacturer or a reseller like Tire Rack.
For instance, here's the link to the General Exclaim UHP's off TR: link The approved rim width for 235/45/17 is 7.5" - 9". It's also the same for the Avon Tech M550 A/S. Now, the 225/50/17 is good for 6"-8" widths. Honestly, 0.5" shouldn't make much of a difference, since many people use 235/45/17 with 7" wide rims with no problems.

I run 235's on my 18x8 G rims....it is tire-dependent. many people have used 235's on the 17x7's, with no problems. I have as well. I thought 235's gave sloppy handling on a rim that narrow because of the outward sidewall....Originally Posted by sciff5

I have a set of 17" Infinity G35 Coupe wheels that are staggered (7.5" front, 8" rear), wondering if anyone would like to swap the 8's for 7.5's, or vice versa? As it stands, I cannot rotate tires, just curious if someone else is the same situation and would want to swap? PM me if interested.
PS - My wheels are the gray versions.

why can't you rotate? they have different offsets, so you can put them on the front or the rear. They are only 1/2" difference so you can put the same tiers on all 4 (I have 225/50/17 on all four for winter). I've had the 8" and the 7.5" on the front and they look the same.Originally Posted by Dooley

'04 sedan (5 spoke) 17's anyone?
i would like to see some more pics of these on a max if possible. i only saw one in this thread and it wasn't the best picture. 4th gen if anyone has it, but just max in general.
does anyone have or know of a set of these for sale?

thanks, just figgered that out for myself after asking. i would however still like to see pics if anyone has them on right now

Ok, need help here guys. The G35 Coupe 18" wheels have a "definative" marking to decipher Front and Rear. Can I use the rears for the front and vice versa if I choose, without any bad effects from it? Seems like the front and rear specs match up.
Any help is appreciate. I won 2 rears off ebay (they are true oem) and am in search for the fronts, unless I don't need to.
As well, would there be enough clearance for 245/40/18 vs 235/40/18 if I want to go a little wider? (03 SE)
Sorry if this has been asked before. -----long thread-----

^ It won't matter at all. I think I'm using 3 rears...
All 18's are the same width and offset, so front/rear are just FYI, really. I'm using 225/45/18. I can safely tell you 245/45/18 rubbed in the rear constantly, but has worked for others (even lowered). 245/40/18 may not rub, but IMO, I would stick to 235/40/18.

Sounds good, thank you. I was wondering about the 245/40/18. They look to be just wider, and not taller. But thanks for confirming the use of any of the wheels at any point of the car.Originally Posted by SilverGLE

Paramy, he's right. They are only marked front/rear since on the G you run different tires front/rear and some idiots can't read the sidewall, I guess
Fronts and rears are same size, width, and offset.
I would suggest 235/40/18, but 245/40/18 shouldn't rub if you trim down the little tabs in the rear wheel well that stick into the tire....right where the rear bumper upper lip attaches to the wheel well. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

Thanks man! I just wanted reassurance from you guys with experience before I dropped money on it. I'm completely stock right now and was in need of OEM wheels since I sold my TE wheels and borrowing Kimberly's currently. I figured the car would sell better with a nice of a set as the G35 Coupe 18's.Originally Posted by irish44j

they should fit fine, though I'm not 100% positive of it. I recall seeing an Alti with them (actually, I think there's a picture of it someplace in this thread....)Originally Posted by imran83

i have a set of '03 g35 sedan 17's (5 spoke) on the way - i'll put up pics, as they will be the first i have seen here, at least in this thread.
on a related note, i need nissan center caps for them since i bought my max with its current aftermarket rims on it. i can't post a WTB since i'm new - does anyone have the 2000 gxe/se/gle or other caps that will fit infiniti's? i can't seem to find them on ebay, only the ones that people have said that DON'T fit.
*edit - for ease of searching/ID'ing good ones, what are part numbers of the ones mentioned that work for sure? most places i find center caps online the descriptions are very vague and may not include model or year it fits...

dunno if it was answered before, but what is the standard weight of the oem titanium wheels on maximas? which is heavier, the g35 18's?

^ 235/40/18 has the least chance of rubbing on a dropped Max... It'll be the size I have this summer when it's time for new tires and suspension (Illuminas/Eibach).
^ Should be no to both questions... I'm 99% sure, even though I don't have a drop... yet. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong...

Ok. I have some conflicting issues about the G35 wheels on a 4th gen max. I really want the 18's, but in the 4th gen forum they said that i couldn't use them and that it was impossible to do. Something about torque spline bearings. Also, they said that I would have to run a 2" spacer to get the 17 coupe wheels to work. I have a guy who has both sets 17's and 18's and he will give me either set that I want, but I need to know which set will work. Like I said, I would prefer the 18's but I also like the 17's. Can someone please let me know for sure which will work.

they all will fit, as you can see....and there is absolutely no way you'd need spacers, since the G wheels are actually farther toward the fender than your stock wheels (30-35mm offset vs. 45mm)....Originally Posted by mikey chalupa

OK, I bought a set of the G35 coupe 17's on eBay for 250 bucks. They aren't the replica. These are the real deal. I was wondering what size tire should I run on them. I was thinking about going with a 225/45/17. They are staggered, but I figured I could go 225 all around. Or would a 235 be better. Is a 45 too thin?

I just got a set of the '03 sedan wheels - 5 spoke 17's. If I'm not mistaken, they will be the first I've seen on here, at least in this thread, and they are CLEAN. I like the simple elegance of the 5 spoke, and compared to aftermarkets such as Kyowas or something with a similar style, I actually like these better. I'll get some pics up in the next day or so as soon as I give her a bath. A smooth and sexy ride compared to the CHROME 18's that the fool I bought the car from had on there - I lost 10 lbs per wheel when I swapped them out!!!

The G sedan 17s are narrower and have a higher offset.

^^^ yes, everyone and their little sister have the 6- and 7-spoke ones but i was saying that there has not been a 5-spoke one posted in this thread, which is, after, the g35 wheel thread.
here she is, before the makeover - atrocious! (and for sale
)

and after (center caps in progress)

i know, i know - the drop is the next thing, when i get some cash back from the 18's. it was even more ridiculous when it still had those on - ghetto 4x4
