Yokohama AVID V4S...any experience step in!

1 of my crappy falken 512's had a flat with a huge hole in it and it needs to be replaced. I figured I might as well replace all 4 and I was looking at these as a viable option. I want pilot sport a/s but they are out of my college budget. anyone have any opinions about them? Tirerack has them rated well by consumers, but people also think the craptenzas are good tires according to that website. any help is greatly appreciated.

I used to have the older version, V4, and did not like them one bit on the Maxima (had them on 1st gen Altima as well).

*Dry handling - average, engine easily overpowers the tires producing wheelspin from standstill
*Wet Handling - good, no hydroplanning, stable, but just like in dry engine overpowers the tires easily
*Cornering - good, confident feeling, better than average all-season tire yet not up to par to summer tire.
*Winter - average, fine when tackling 1-3" but anything more than that is scary
*Noise - very good, quiet, no complaints
*Treadwear - very good, wore evenly, lasted about 38k mi

IMHO, these tires are better suited for vehicles with less power (e.g.1st gen Altima)

Now, the new version, V4S, has been much improved so I'm not sure how those fare.

thank you for the input. I got them at a good price so let's hope they will do better than my falkens.

I bought the Avid H4S last fall and just went on my first road trip with them. They are all the tire I need through the twisties. If you are budget conscious, why bother with the V4S.

The H4S will last longer and unless you drive super aggressively, the V4S might be overkill.

The avid V4s have beeen better than the stock craptenzas and perelli p6000. Me and my buddy both have then and love them...the rubber is a bit hard giving them the 500 treadwear, but they make up for it in the twisties. They are great high performance all seasons!

Go to tirerack and check out the Avon Tech M550s A/S. I just got a set of 4 tires for my max.

I am running the Avid H4S which is similar, but has a lower speed rating. They are decent, have good treadware (though I am wearing my set prematurely because of a bad alignment). They are enough tire for me as I do not drive super agressively, but their new traction for the first few 1000 km was MUCH better than they are now.

Just had the Yoko Avid v4s put on last Thursday. Finally got rid of the horrible Falken 's. What a waste of money they were.....10000 miles and they became bald and unsafe. I put about 700 miles on the Avid's driving this holiday weekend from Chicago to Michigan. I was very impressed with these tires. Especially when it started downpouring while coming back to Chicago. Road noise is superb even at speeds of 100+ on the highway. $600 installed was well worth the money spent for these tires. I couldn't be happier. My Max hasn't handled this well since I drove it off the showroom floor. Time will tell as far as treadwear and sidewall stability is concerned.
