6th Gen 18's on a 4th Gen -- What size tires?

I've been hunting down an answer to my question... I read the G35 rim thread and looked through the tire/wheel forum. So far I've gotten an idea of what will work, but I couldn't really get a definitive answer.

I'm putting the 18" wheels from the 6th gen Max on my 4th gen. I have the normal stock suspension -- I want to fill that wheel gap, but I don't really want to drop the car. Does anyone have a recommendation for the proper size tire? The wheels are 18/7.5. I'm trying to decide between 225/40/18 and 235/40/18. I've determined that the 225 will fit, but I want to go as big as I can to fill in more wheel gap. Other sites say that the 235 will fit a 7.5" rim, even if the tire manufacturers specify an 8" rim. The 245/45/18 that come on the 6th gen are out of the question.

I know some of you have done this... what works best? Thanks for any advice!

One of my biggest concerns is how the wheels will look without a drop. I will drop the car if it looks really bad, but I'd rather not spend the money and affect the ride. If anyone has any pictures of 18's with 225/40 or 235/40 (or similar) tires without a drop, please post them. I would really appreciate it. I'm really wanting to buy tires, but (probably off tirerack), but I don't want to waste my time and money on the wrong size. Any advice... Thanks.

the fender gap is determined by the height of the tire..not the width. all in all, you will still need to drop the car to get rid of the fender gap. it seems that the look you are after can only be fixed with a drop, you'll sacrifice *some* ride quality but you'll exchange that for the look you are after.
GL with your decision.
